Cross River: NDE trains 540 unemployed youths on vocational skills
No fewer than 540 unemployed youths have begun training with different basic vocational skills in Cross River under the tutelage of the National Directorate of Employment, NDE.
Declaring the training exercise open on Friday in Calabar, the Director-General of the NDE, Mallam Nuhu Fikpo appealed to the selected Youth to consider themselves as privileged, having been chosen from the vast population of unemployed in the state.
The Director-General who was represented by the State Coordinator of the NDE, Udam Gabriel Ugbashi opined, that the exercise which will last for three months, would be for 360 unemployed youths who will participate in Basic Vocational skills training and 180 participants in Advanced Vocational Skills training will be running simultaneously within the 18 Local Government Areas of the State.
Explaining that, the skills will include Domestic Skills like Fashion Design, Hair Dressing, and makeup while the technical skills include plumbing, television/radio repairs, GSM, and Electrical installation.
Also speaking the Director Vocational Skills Department of the NDE headquarters who was represented by Haroon Eze, charge the trainees to take the training seriously to justify the huge investment of the Federal Government in the training. Informing them that it would be of great benefit for them If they will bend down and learn.
