C’River: Governor Otu sacks political appointees, dissolves tax and revenue agents
Senator Bassey Edet Otu, Governor of Cross River State, has issued a directive requiring all political appointees to promptly relinquish their positions to their respective Permanent Secretaries or the most Senior Director/Head of the Ministry, Department, or Agency such action is to be taken without delay, according to government directives.
Dr. Innocent Eteng, Permanent Secretary of the General Administration Office of the Secretary to the State Government, issued the statement on Thursday in Calabar,
The Governor has also issued a directive for the dissolution of all committees of Tax and Revenue agents.
The statement reads,
“All committees, Tax and Revenue agents are hereby dissolved.
“All government properties including buildings hitherto occupied by political appointees should be vacated with immediate effect.
“All Local Government Council Chairmen upon expiration of their tenure are to hand over to their respective Heads of Local Government Administration (HOLGAS) or Directors- General and Administration (DGSAS) of their Local Governments.”
The governor has also directed all Governing Boards of Parastatals, Commissions, and Agencies, excluding Statutory Boards, to be dissolved forthwith. The governor further directed that all matters relating to land allocations and associated matters be suspended until further notice.
“All auctioning of assets are hereby suspended and will be revisited in due course. Political appointees and other public officers still keeping government vehicles are to return them forthwith to the Transport Officer, Office of the Governor,” the statement reads.
