C’River 2023: PFN endorses PDP Guber Candidate, Sandy Onor
The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, (PFN) Cross River State chapter has endorsed Sen. Sandy Onor as the preferred governorship candidate in the 11th March governorship election in the state.
In a press statement issued on Monday at the Assemblies Church, Essien Town, Calabar, read by the chairman Cross River State chapter of the PFN, Dr Lawrence Ekwok said, after strategic meetings with the leadership of the Pentecostal Fellowship, Cross River State chapter, it was unanimously endorsed Sen. Sandy Ojang Onor of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP is the governorship candidate of the state base on character, capacity competence and the policies and manifestoes of candidates.
The statement reads in parts, “The strategy Committee was mandated to interview, interact, interrogate key or major governorship candidates based on specific guidelines which include character, capacity, competence, and the policies and manifestoes of each candidate and recommend to the fellowship the candidate that they are convinced will best serve the state interest””
The statement further explained that at the LGA level of the state PFN, 429 leaders joined in the voting process through a secret ballot system, out of which 260 voted for the candidate of PDP, 114 leaders voted for the APC candidate, 47 members voted for the candidate of PRP, while 8 votes were declared void””
“”Consequently, the entire leadership and membership of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Cross River State formally and officially endorsed the candidature of the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Sen. Prof. Sandy Ojang Onor for the March 11, 2023 governorship election. We therefore hereby call on all members of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN in all our member churches across the state to vote massively for the PDP governorship candidate in the March 11, 2023 election in the state as the endorsement is the collective and unanimous decision of the leadership and membership of PFN, Cross River State””
“”This decision is devoid of any selfish interest or any form of influence or aggrandisement, Rather, it is taken in the overall interest of Cross River State” the statement stressed.
