COVID-19 Pandemic: Nigeria receives N8.5b worth of medical supplies.
The Nigerian Government is set to receive the second consignment of $22 million which is about 8.5 billion Naira from the European Union to support the effort to fight COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
The second batch of deliveries contains essential medical supplies to enhance the efforts of frontline responders providing care and treatment of COVID-19 patients in Nigeria has arrived in the country.
In response to the development, the United Nations Development Programme which manages the UN Nigeria COVID-19 response in the country thanked the European Commission and other contributors for their efforts in stemming the tide of the virus which currently has 41,180 confirmed cases in Nigeria with a death toll of 860.
The deputy rep of UNDP in Nigeria, Lealem Berhanu Dinku, in his address said:
“We thank the European Commission and other contributors to the Nigeria One UN COVID-19 response for their financial support that is making it possible for us to rapidly procure medical supplies through the UNDP’s expansive procurement network.”
