Corruption: Group urges EFCC to drop all allegations against Ayade, says Governor performed well
Centre for Effective Leadership Development and Conciliation, CELDCON has called for the Anticraft Agency to drop every allegation of misappropriation against the outgoing governor of Cross River state, Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade, saying he has overperformed following the numerous signature projects of the governor.
The group made the call on Saturday during a Press Conference at the Ernest Etim Bassey Press Center, Calabar.
According to the state chairman of the group, Comrade, Iso Bassey Edim, says the Center for Effective Leadership Development and Conciliation, CELDCON is a Nationwide Non-Governmental, saddled with the responsibility of joining hands with the agencies in fighting corruption.
He said, “The group is a nationwide civil society, liberty, accountability, Transparency, effective leadership, and good governance advocacy group” a cooperate entity certified by the Corporate Affairs Commission.
He said part of their activities is to enlighten the masses on issues concerning the correcting of misinformation occasioned by false claims from certain individuals who aimed at tarnishing the image of others.
He said, “Part of our responsibility is to enlighten the masses on important issues including correcting a misinformation that may likely cause harm and unnecessary tension in the society”
Stressing that “The allegations by Network Against Corruption and Human Trafficking targeting the ongoing governor of Cross River State Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade of embezzling a whooping N500B is a call concern”
“”We are an apolitical group, even though not speaking for the Governor of Cross River State, but as Cross Riverians and Nigeria at large we owe the populace a responsibility to put the record straight for the benefit of the masses,” the group said.
