Compassion: Essien Udim First Lady Supports Family of Triplets
As part of her routine social intervention and humanitarian services, the wife of the Transition Chairman of Essien Udim, Dr. (Mrs) Umoh Gabriel TonyUdoh, has responded to a distress call for support from Mr. and Mrs. Iberedem Ekanem of Ukana Ikot Ntuen in Ukana West II, who recently welcomed a set of triplets, all boys.
On Sunday, 14th July 2024, the First Lady of Essien Udim visited the family, bringing various items for the upkeep and care of the newborn babies. The donations included foodstuff, baby formula, beverages, toiletries, clothing, diapers, wrapper and cash gifts for the mother.
According to Dr. Tonyudoh she was moved by compassion and thanksgiving to God for His blessings when she received the call from the parents of the triplets last week and decided to visit the family to share in their joy.
In her words, “I thank God for safe delivery and the health of both the mother and the triplets. I encourage you to be intentional parents to the kids, raising them with the fear of God to become responsible to themselves, the family and society in general.”
She noted that the gesture aligns with Her Excellency, Pastor Patience Umo Eno’s GIFA project, which also focuses on the welfare of multiple birth children and promised to link the family with the organization for further support.
Describing the birth of the triplets as a blessing to the family and Essien Udim in general, the First Lady prayed for good health and God’s favour for the children and the family at large.
Mr. Iberedem Ekanem, the father of the triplets, expressed his deep gratitude to Dr. Umoh Gabriel TonyUdoh for her quick response, noting that she was the first person to respond to their call for help.
He described the Chairman’s wife as a compassionate woman and a blessing to Essien Udim, praying to God to grant her wishes in life while pledging their support and loyalty to Dr. Anthony Luke’s administration and his second term ambition.
The Chairman’s wife was accompanied on the visit by the wife of the Vice Chairman of the Transition Committee Mrs Imo Asukwo, the PDP Chapter Women Leader, Hon. Rose Thompson; the Secretary, Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District Women Forum, Mrs. Cecilia Obot and Ms Mary James, immediate past supervisor for Women Affairs, Essien Udim.
It is worthy of note that the First Lady of Essien Udim has maintained routine visits to different hospitals/medical centres in Essien Udim, where she has supported numerous pregnant women and nursing mothers by donating various gift items such as maternity packs and cash over the past three and a half years of her husband’s administration.
