Commissioner, Camillus Umoh, Ward Leader celebrate Governor Umo Eno’s Supreme Court Victory
The Commissioner for Power, Engr. Camillus Umoh yesterday hosted the People’s Democratic Party, PDP Ward Leaders in Essien Udim Local Government Area to celebrate the recent Supreme Court judgement, affirming Governor Umo Eno’s election as the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State.
It could be recalled that Pastor Umo Eno had polled 356,348 votes at the March 18, 2023 gubernatorial elections to be declared winner, having scored the highest number of votes, among other requirements but was challenged by his fellow contestants up to the apex court.
Speaking at the event held at his Ekpenyong Ward 1 country home in Essien Udim Local Government Area, Engr. Umoh said the decision of the apex court had finally laid to rest the tumultuous litigations against the Governor from the camps of the opposition after the March 18, 2023 governorship polls.
He ascribed the glory to God for the victories, pointing out that it was expedient to celebrate the feat with his fellow ward leaders, under the leadership of Obong M A Afangideh, specifically to appreciate them for their unwavering support, which had culminated in the party’s triumph over the years, besides their steadfastness while the tumult lasted.
His words: “the Governor can now implement the ARISE agenda seamlessly for the benefit of the state and further progress of the party in the years ahead. Let us all galvanize our individual and collective efforts to ensure and realise a holistic success by the Governor.”
In his remarks, the Political Leader of Essien Udim, Obong M A Afangideh applauded the Commissioner for his decision to host the Ward Leaders with a view to celebrating last Thursday’s affirmation of Governor Umo Eno as the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State.
Represented by Hon. Emmanuel Useh – a former Leader of Essien Udim Legislature, Obong Afangideh expressed satisfaction with the leadership style of the Governor and the hardworking disposition of Engr. Camillus Umoh, describing the commissioner as a round peg in a round hole, while pledging their continuous support to the Umo Eno administration of the state.
On his part, Barr. Martins Umanah – a former Chairman of the Local Government Area, currently serving as member in the State Secondary Education Board, described Engr. Camillus Umoh as a team-player whose leadership qualities has attracted unity to the party in the area.
He thanked the Commissioner for choosing to celebrate the victory with the Ward Leaders, describing the gesture as an attribute of a good and effective party man.
In their respective remarks, the Transition Committee Chairman of Essien Udim Local Government Area, Dr. Anthony Luke and the member for Essien Udim in the State House of Assembly, Prince Ukpong Akpabio commended the Commissioner and wife, Dr. Eme Camillus Umoh for the lavish treatment accorded the party chieftains and encouraged other stakeholders to queue behind the commissioner to further strengthen and promote bonding in the party, ahead of future political engagements.
Present at the event were Hon. John Ekanem – a former Transition Committee Chairman of the Local Government Area; Hon. Sunyiekekere Inokon – a former member of the National Assembly, currently serving as Commissioner in the Local Government Service Commission; Prince Nsini Umana – Board Member, Advisory Council on the Prerogative of Mercy; and Hon. Peter Isobara – a former Councilor for Ekpenyong Ward 2, currently serving as member of the Local Government Transition Committee.
