Camillus Umoh: Youths Pass Vote of Confidence on Trade and Investment Commissioner
Youths of Essien Udim Local Government extraction have passed a vote of confidence on the Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Engr. Camillus Umoh, for his patriotism, unwavering loyalty, passion and commitment towards the completion agenda of Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel and the Arise agenda of the Governor – elect, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno.
In a press statement under the aegis of Coalition of Essien Udim Youths, the group condemned in strong terms the recent attack on the commissioner by certain individuals, under the guise of a pseudo youth organization purportedly operational in the area, warning that the coalition would not fold their hands to watch desperate and selfish politicians use fake and anonymous youth groups to cause disaffection and heat up the polity, as they would resist any attempt to disrupt the prevailing peace and stability currently being enjoyed across the Local Government Area.
The statement which was jointly signed by Engr. Udim Patrick Awa – Youth Caucus Chairman; Comrade Kufre Nkorok – Youth Council Chairman; Comrade Raymond Ekpe – PDP chapter youth leader, Comrade Kingsley Udoh – Village Youths chairman; Hon. Nsikan Isidore – Christian Youth; and Hon. Edemekong Christopher – Dean of the youths, indicated that from investigations by the coalition, the authors of the attack on the commissioner were not in any way associated with the leadership structure of Essien Udim youths, while their sponsors had gone into hiding.
They however advised politicians to desist from further fuelling flames of division, hatred and outright crisis across the area, while urging Essien Udim people and the general public to disregard any news of a vote of no confidence against the Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Engr. Camillus Umoh as totally false, baseless and one that only exists in the figments of the imaginations of the writers and their sponsors.
The youths paid glowing tributes to the commissioner’s stewardship, since assumption of office, pointing out that he had further demonstrated great capacity during the recently concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections as well as the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections in which he had successfully delivered his unit for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP – a feat which the promoters and sponsors of the attacks on him had compromised, hence could not accomplish.
The coalition therefore encouraged Engr. Umoh neither to be distracted nor relent on his oars towards consolidating on his wealth of experience, contacts and expertise gained from the private sector to remain focussed so as to deliver on his mandate, as they dared the champions and patrons of the ill-fated attack on the commissioner to come out from their hideouts and buttress their claims.
They called on youths across the Local government extraction, most especially those who had earlier fallen unfortunate victims of previous exploitations by similar sponsors of destabilization to reject being used as willing participants of their own destruction and join hands with the current leaderships of the party as well as the Local and State Governments to maintain the peace and move the polity forward.
“Essien Udim youths are one, united, peaceful, progressive, loyal family, committed to the ideals of PDP and will continue to support all elected and appointed public office holders at all levels of government to succeed in their respective assignments, as their success is the success of Essien Udim youths,” the statement read in part.
The statement also reiterated the unwavering support of the youths to the member – elect for Essien Udim state constituency, Prince Ukpong Akpabio and the executive chairman of the Local Government area, Mr. Anthony Luke, describing the duo as strong pillars of Essien Udim youths.
The youths further used the medium to commend the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel over his successful administration of the state for the past eight years, leading PDP to victory at the 2023 Governorship elections and finishing strong, while congratulating the Governor – elect, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno and wishing him an enterprising tenure throughout his stewardship, as they pledged to sustain their unalloyed support to the party, the State Governor and the Governor – elect.
