Bursted: More shrines, criminal camps demolished in Akwa Ibom
The Chairman of Oruk Anam Local Government Council, Rt. Hon. Dr Kingsley Frank Thursday led a delegation of security personnel to destroy a shrine in Ikot Ntuk village of the area, reportedly owned by a native doctor popularly called Obioekpo who is now on the run.
According to government sources, the demolition followed intelligent reports and investigation on criminal activities allegedly carried out in the shrine.
It was also gathered that the shrines were allegedly providing spiritual fortification for armed robbers and cultists in the area as the native doctor is said to be an expert in treating gun wounds of criminals who get into cross-fire with police officers.
This reporter learnt that three motorcycles, guns and other properties were also recovered from the shrine.
The Council Chairman, Dr Kingsley Frank has further warned criminal elements to steer clear the area as the Local Government will not be a comfort zone for them.
He called on the good and peace loving people of the Local Government Area to be security conscious and reach out to him or the police on any suspicious person or activities capable of breaching peace and safety of lives and properties.
