Breaking : Court sentences Uduak Akpan to death by hanging over murder of Iniubong Umoren
Akwa Ibom State High Court sitting in Uyo, has convicted Uduak Frank Akpan to death by hanging for a case of rape and murder.
The trial Judge, Justice Bassey Nkanang delivered the judgement today, Thursday 4th August, 2022 at the High Court 9. The judge said Uduak Akpan is to die by the neck for killing Iniubong Umoren, a job seeker who was invited by Uduak Akpan for a job interview.
The court sentenced him to life imprisonment for the case of rape and was also sentenced to death by hanging for the case of murder.
The father, Frank Akpan and Uduak Sister, Bassey Anwan were however discharged and acquitted by the court.
Attempts by the first accused person, Uduak Akpan to escape from the court room as he was about to be accosted out of court by Prison officials was thwarted by heavy security presence at the court premises.
