Behold the Acting Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Ukana: Dr. (Mrs) Mercy D. Ebong.
Disciplined, highly organised and detailed, Dr. (Mrs) Mercy D. Ebong is a woman of immense character, wit and wisdom.
She exemplifies hard work, diligence and she is, at any rate, a thoroughbred administrator who has proven to be very reliable and has displayed excellent administrative acumen as the Polytechnic Librarian, Federal Polytechnic, Ukana.
Her motherly warmth and organisational ability is top-rated. She is an easy-going fellow, yet firm and at once a woman of deep insight and perspicacity.
Dr. Mercy Ebong holds a B.Sc Ed in Accounting from the University of Uyo, a Master’s in Library Science (MLS) University of Uyo and a Ph.D in Library and Information Science from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
She is an indigene of Ikot Ekpeyak Ikono in Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. She takes over from Dr. Uduak Sunday Ukekpe whose eventful tenure as Rector of Federal Polytechnic, Ukana ended on the 22nd November,2023.
Dr. Ebong will act pending the appointment of a substantive Rector by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
She is expected to bring her wealth of experience, managerial wit and organisational astuteness to bear on her new assignment. One is in no doubt of her ability, as she has at all times demonstrated uncanny capacity of excellent output wherever and anywhere she has been called upon to exercise her intellect.
She comes into the job with rich vein of experience in the academic world. She has authored many academic articles published locally and internationally. A member of many professional associations and groups.
She’s a mother, mentor and tutor of the finest fibre.
