Armed Forces Remembrance Day Thanksgiving: Essien Udim council boss assures Nigerian Legion of improved welfare
As Nigerian Legion, Essien Udim Chapter joined other members nationwide in a thanksgiving service, the Transition Chairman of Essien Udim Local Government Council, Dr Anthony Luke has assured members of the legion and wives of the fallen heroes of improved welfare package.
The Chairman made the assurance during the Christian Interdenominational Church Service at Assumption Parish, Ikpe Annang on Sunday, 13th January to mark the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration.
The council boss who was represented by the Vice Chairman, Essien Udim Transition Committee, Mr. Imo Etim Asuquo thanked God for sustaining the lives of members of the legion in good health and prayed for God’s abundance grace and benevolence over their lives.
In his address, the Chairman, Nigerian Legion, Essien Udim Chapter, Master Warrant Officer (MWO) Aniekan Nya solicited continuous support to carter for the welfare of members and also pray for healing. He used the opportunity to invite everyone to the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration at the Essien Udim Cenotaph, Afaha Ikot Ebak on Monday, 15th January 2024
The first bible reading was taken by the wife of the Transition Chairman, Essien Udim Local Government, Dr (Mrs) Umoh Gabriel TonyUdoh from the book of 1st Samuel 3:1-11.
In his homily, the Chief Celebrant and Parish Priest of Assumption Parish, Ikpe Annang, Rev Fr Stephen S. Udoh said the Legion has paid their dues in defends of the country’s territorial integrity and therefore deserves respect and honour.
The Catholic Priest urged those in authority and privilege individuals in the country to support the fallen heroes and their widows.
The Church service was also attended by the Secretary, Transition Committee, Hon. Uduakobong Innocent Umoh and members of the council Essien Udim Transition Committee; Aides to the Governor; the Council’s Head of Service, Dr (Mrs) Harrison Usoro; Director of Finance, Elder Aniefiok Oyoh; Director of Works, Nya Nkereuwem; DSO, Agnes Ebom; Council Cashier, Mr Uduak Udoakpan; NULGE Chairman, Essien Udim Chapter, Comdr Blessing Essien; PDP Chapter Women Leader, Hon. Rose Thompson, women stakeholders among other dignitaries.
