Archbishop Cletus Bassey: Primate, Destiny International Missions
Archbishop Cletus Bassey was born on the fifth day of February 1962 in Idu Uruan, Uruan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
He attended his primary education at St Gregrory’s Primary School, Nkubia in Eket LGA and his secondary education at Holy Trinity College, Mbiakong, Uruan. He later attended St Patrick’s College, Calabar where he obtained his General Certificate of Education in 1982.
In 1987, he obtained a Diploma in Ministerial Arts from Trinity College of Ministerial Arts, Aba, Nigeria, after a two year course of study. In 1988, he obtained a Bachelor of Theology Degree from the Logos Bible College, United States of America, and in 1988 he obtained a Master of Theological Studies from Vision International University, USA.
He capped his educational pursuits in 1991 with a Doctoral Degree in “Philosophy in Church Development and Administration” from Vision International University.
Archbishop Cletus Bassey, the presiding bishop of the Destiny International Missions, with branches within and outside Nigeria, has held several positions of high ministerial responsibility and public trust.
These include: Member, Board of Trustees, International Church and Impact Conference (ICIC); Chairman, Board of Trustees, Imaobong Missionary Hospital, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State; Member, Board of Trustees, The Gospel Foundation Inc. Etinan; Member, Board of Trustees, National Association of Theological Education; President, Destiny School of Ministerial Arts, Texas, U.S.A; President, Vision Christian College and Seminary, Uyo, Nigeria.
Founder, Petalice Medical Center, Uyo. Akwa Ibom State; Chancellor, LeadImpact University, Denver, Colorado, USA; Chairman, DanWills Estate; Founder, Willing Hands and Care Foundations; Primate, College of Apostolic Minister’s & Bishops; President, His Reign Temple; and President, Ruach ICT Consult.
In the same vein, he has held professional appointments in the following areas: Deputy, Commandant General of Chaplain (DCGC), United Nigeria Chaplaincy; Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Akwa Ibom State Chapter (2009 to 2017); African President, Vision International University. USA 1990-2003; African Director, Harvest International Ministerial Fellowship; President, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, (PFN), Akwa Ibom State Chapter (2003-2011); and Member, National Executive Council of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).
Archbishop Cletus Bassey has also left his thoughts and his life on the marble of history through books. These include: Your Inheritance in the Prophetic (2000); All Things are Yours (2007); God’s Hands Is Upon Your Life (2009); Designed for Destiny (2011); Serving God’s Purpose (2011); Strides In Destiny (2012); The Name of Jesus (2013); The Priesthood of the Believer (2013).
A much sought after speaker on our Christian faith and righteousness, he has attended many workshops and seminars and presented papers in some of them. His seminar papers include: Divinity or Divination (1996); The Prophetic and the Government (1998); Interpretative Skill; The Seer and The Prophet: Similarities and Differences; Prophetic Protocol; The Minister and Biblical Standard in Prophecy; Becoming a Purposeful Church for Growth in the 21st Century Ministry; Dreams and Visions as Prophetic Tools; Ministry of the Apostles; Ministry of the Prophet; Building A Peaceful and Lasting Nation.
Archbishop Cletus Bassey is also the humble recipient of several awards including; Doctor of Divinity (Honaris Causa), Trinity College of Ministerial Arts (2009); Ambassador for Peace, International Federation for World Peace (2010); Excellent Award – Organization of Core Oil Producing Communities; Excellence and Proficiency, Award -National Youth Service Corps; Excellence in Ministry Award -Female Ministers Int’l. South Africa; Pillar Award -P.F.N. Youths.
Others are Apostolic Leadership/Kingdom Expansion Award; Patriarch of Akwa Ibom State Christian Community – Youth Wing of CAN; Akwa Ibom State; and Doyen of the Niger Delta Youths; Garkuwan Matasan Arewa/Icon of human transformation-National Youth Council of Nigeria.
Archbishop Cletus Bassey is the first Akwa Ibomite to serve as Chancellor of a university in the United States of America.
Archbishop Cletus Bassey, is married to Rev Dr Blessing Bassey. The marriage is blessed with two male Children and other spiritual children.
