Appointments: NUJ lauds Speaker, Essien Udim, Uyo Council bosses for settling for professionals.
The Federated Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Akwa Ibom State Council, has commended the Speaker, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Aniekan Bassey for settling for professionals as media aides.
The Union also lauded the Chairman, Essien Udim Local Government Area, Mr Anthony Luke and his Uyo counterpart for appointing its members as media aides.
This was contained in a communique issued at the end of its Congress held on Friday, December 19, 2019 and signed by the Chapel Chairman, Comrade Inimfon Silas and Secretary, Comrade Anthony Udoh.
The communique read:
“Congress commended the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey; Council Chairmen of Uyo, Essien Udim and Ukanafun, as well as other public office holders for appointing its members (Professionals), as Aides.
They are: Emmanuel Effiong – Press Secretary to Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey; Donatus Archibong – Administrative Secretary, South South Speakers Forum; Itoro-Etas Iniobong – Media Aide to the Chairman, Uyo Local Government Area, Dr. Uwemedimo Udo and Edidiong Idemokon – Media Aide to the Chairman, Essien Udim Local Government Area, Mr. Anthony Luke.
“Congress appreciated the State Council Chairman, Comrade Amos Etuk for implementing the Welfare Package for members, while lauding his leadership strides so far.
Congress identified with the successes of elected Chapel members at the just-concluded Local Government elections.
“They are: Hon. Godwin Inyieng, Chairman, Ukanafun Local Government Area and Hon. Ekemini Etim Udoh, Deputy Leader, Mkpat Enin Legislative Council.
“Congress commended the Council Chairmen of Ukanafun, as well as other public office holders for appointing its members (Professionals), as Aides.
“Congress identified with the successes of elected Chapel members at the just-concluded Local Government elections.
“They are: Hon. Godwin Inyieng, Chairman, Ukanafun Local Government Area and Hon. Ekemini Etim Udoh, Deputy Leader, Mkpat Enin Legislative Council.
“Congress celebrated members who shone and news platforms which stood out at the just-concluded Press Week Award ceremony.
“They are: Ekemini Simon – Investigative Reporter of the Year, Emmanuel Akpan – Sports Writer of the Year,
Idara Enobong – Environmental Reporter of the Year, Priscilla Christopher – Feature Writer of the Year,
Inspiration FM – Radio Station of the Year and The Mail – Newspaper of the Year.
“Congress received and inducted 38 new members into the Chapel.
“Congress resolved to continue working within the ambits of Media Laws and Ethics governing the profession.
“Congress congratulated the Chapel football team for winning the Nigerians Union of Journalists Inter-Chapel Football Tournament.ν
