To consolidate the advocacy for a greener society, address climate change issues, and promote environmental responsibility, the Akwa Ibom State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) commemorated the 60th anniversary of the Institute with fitness walk, aerobics and tree planting.
According to the Chapter Chairman, Elder Manasseh Umoette, the event, tagged “Diamond Walk for Economic Transformation,” and held at the Image House, Uyo, was simultaneously carried across the 36 states of the federation to also get members of the institute refreshed, renewed and reinvigorated.
While explaining the fundamentals of the event to include promotion of environmental responsibility by all, Elder Umoette added that the event was in line with the directive from the national body for a greener Nigeria, maintaining that “the trees planted are economic trees that will benefit not just the present generation but also future generations.”
He thanked the State Commissioner for Information, Comrade Ini Ememobong; the Transition Committee Chairman of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Council, Sir Cleton Etim, who was represented by his Supervisor for Works and Housing, Hon.
