AKSU Visitation Panel holds 1st meeting
The visitation panel for Akwa Ibom State University, AKSU, constituted by the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, in his capacity as the Visitor to the University, to undertake a comprehensive needs assessment and highlight all pending issues in the University has held itsbfirst meeting.
The panel is expected to propose ways of helping the ivory tower to attain an enviable status on the ranking of universities in the continent and globally.
The committee is headed by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Akparawa Ephraim Inyangeyen, with the following as members, Head of the Civil Service-Elder Effiong Essien, Honourable Commissioners, Education-Mrs Idongesit Etiebet, Attorney General- Uko Essien Udom,Labour and Manpower Development- Pastor Sunny Ibuot, Information & Strategy- Comrade Ini Ememobong, Works & Fire Service- Prof. Eno Ibanga; Vice Chancellor AKSU, Prof. Nse Essien, Accountant General- Pastor Uwem Andrew- Essien.
Other members of the committee are Chairman NLC- Comrade Sunny James, Chairman TUC- Comrade Dominic Abang, Proprietor, Topfaith Schools- Dr. Godwin Abraham, while the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Mrs Eme-Ete Imuk will serve as the Secretary of the Panel.
At the meeting, the Panel chairman tasked the members to show great commitment to the task at hand, as the life span of the panel is one month. Inyangeyen reiterated the commitment of the Governor Udom Emmanuel-led administration to greatly improve the fortunes of the State owned University and reposition her for effective global competition.
Members present gave their words of commitment and also indicated their preparedness to commit their time and energy to the attainment of the objectives of the panel.
