Akpabio’s loyalist dumps APC
Former member of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and governorship aspirant on the platform of the APC, Mr. Idongesit Ituen has announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Ituen, who was earlier touted as APC governorship aspirant in the state ahead of the 2023 general elections premised his decision on what he described as insincerity and ethnic bias being exhibited in the party by its leadership.
“My decision (to resign) is hinged on the insincerity and bias as exemplified by the actions of the leader of the APC in Akwa Ibom State,” his resignation letter addressed to the Itu Local Government Area APC Ward 8 Chairman stated.
In the letter dated 9th May 2023, the former Chairman, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Committee on Works, however, did not state whether he would rejoin the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or join any other party at the moment.
He further expressed appreciation to members of the party who showed him ‘unalloyed support’ throughout the period he was a member of the party.
Recall that the former Lawmaker representing Itu State Constituency was among the four members of the state House of Assembly who joined the All Progressives Congress in November 2018 following the defection of the former Governor of the state, Sen Godswil Akpabio from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) APC in August 2018.
Ituen was a core supporter of Sen Akpabio who stood by him even when other loyalist left and pledge loyalty in other camps.
