AKIRS targets ₦43.8 billions in 2022
Akwa Ibom State Internal Revenue Service is targeting #43.8 billions as the state-wide internally generatef Revenue (IGR) for 2022.
The state Chairman of Internal Revenue Service, Mr. Okon Okon, disclosed this during its 2022 Strategy Session held at Helemah Event Center, Mutual Alliance Estate, Aka Itam, Uyo, weekend.
Mr. Okon statet that this year AkIRS will focus on Data/Analytics, tax intelligence, Automatic/Digital capability, capacity building, New streams, Maritime/oil and gas, and restructuring to improve efficiency.
While speaking on the progress of the commission, he said that the result of the 3 quarters of the year “has showed strong resilience of our subnational economy to deliver reasonable amount of IGR despite the odd and unfavorable economic conditions that were prevalent in 2021″”.
He therefore specially thanked the State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, for what he called “unreserved support and encouragement to the service which have significantly boosted their collective moral and energy to work towards meeting the IGR objective of the state””.
He also thanked him for outstanding performance on governance delivery which has engendered voluntary compliance by taxpayers in the state .
He also appreciated the Governor for giving them enabling environment which has provided values to taxpayer’s money and showing high level of fiscal Prudence in the management of the state’s finance.
Mr. Okon appreciate Akwa Ibom state House of Assembly,, Ministries, Department and stakeholders for their support and contributions to the continued improvement in the state’s IGR.
He observed that the Board and management staff of AKIRS have demonstrated unalloyed loyalty to the government of the day.while thanking the Revenue community in the state for their immense support and cooperation in the previous year.
He assured of determination to leverage on their goodwill positively in their efforts to grow the revenue base of the state in 2022.
