Akase tasks people on tolerance in social interactions
As the world commemorates the “International Day for Tolerance” which is observed on November 16 every year since 1995, as declared by the United Nations, a top governorship aspirant in Benue State, Mr Terver Akase tasks people on tolerance in all social interactions to make the society peaceful.
The 2023 Peoples Democratic Party, PDP guber hopeful, emphasises that only tolerance can engender peace and foster mutual understanding among different cultures of the world and strengthen social bonds among people in the society. He submits that to be tolerant, is not only the moral duty of a civilized human and society but also a requirement for a peaceful and friendly environment.
Mr Akase who is the immediate past Chief Press Secretary to the Benue State Governor, says the place of tolerance in social interactions remain paramount, as without it there will be no harmonious coexistence among the people, who he notes may be of diverse socio-cultural backgrounds but such diversity could be harnessed into a united and peaceful world.
He particularly tasks political aspirants and supporters across the State and Country on the need to be tolerant of one another’s perspectives in canvassing support for their ambitions, and stresses that the noble cause of peace in Benue and Nigeria at large must be upheld by all and sundry.
The guber aspirant describes as apt, the theme for the Day this year which is; “Tolerance is respect, acceptance, and appreciation of the rich diversity of our world’s cultures, our forms of expression and ways of being human” and states that the theme has infinite relevance in line with the prevailing circumstance in the world today.
Mr Akase tasks people to imbibe the central message of the Day this year, which invites all persons across the universe to acknowledge that the diverse opinions and points of view upon beliefs, race, politics, and geography are mere reflections of a diverse but united world.
He urges people to understand that the variety of human behaviors, the world’s cultures, and fundamental freedom make the society more beautiful for interactions hence the compelling need to imbibe tolerance in all circumstances.
