The African Union Commission (AU) has condemned the use of violence on peaceful #EndSARS protesters in Nigeria and urged the government to respect human rights and the rule of law.

Mahatmat offered his condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones and appealed to “political and social actors to reject the use of violence and respect human rights and the rule of law.”
He called for a timely and robust dialogue in order to de-escalate the situation and find concrete and durable reforms
This happened as Nigeria youths continue to protest against police brutality, extra judicial killings and unwarranted arrest and torture by men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigeria Police Force.
The youths are calling for the scrapping of the SARS and total reform of the police force to be able to discharge their mandate of protecting lives and property
