AFAN: Cleric tasks farmers on technological innovation, faith in God
Farmers under the auspices of All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Akwa Ibom State Chapter have been tasked to embrace technological innovation for greater productivity and also trust in God for success.
The Minister, Church of Christ, Afaha Offot, Uyo, Brother Idongesit Ekpo gave the charge on Sunday, 27th February 2023 during AFAN Thanksgiving Service and Dedication of the 2022 Farming Year.
The preacher who was preaching on the topic, “God is Able” urged the farmers to put their trust in God and believe in Him for multiple harvests.
While urging the farmers to always update their knowledge in modern agricultural practices the minister stated that knowledge is key to success in any endeavours.
Bro. Ekpo also charged the farmers to work hard to complement the State government’s food sufficiency programmes as the Government could not do it alone while calling on relevant government authorities to invest more in agriculture through AFAN to ensure food availability in Akwa Ibom State.
In his remarks, the State Chairman of AFAN, Prince Bassey Inwang said God deserves thanksgiving as the Chief Farmer and also commended the church for their prayers and guidance since the inception of the present AFAN State Exco of the association.
Prince Inwang who also took time to enumerate achievements of AFAN in the state promised to do more in 2022 as the group is ready to take agriculture to secondary schools to promote agriculture and farming at a young age.
The State AFAN boss presented some farm inputs to the leadership of the Church on behalf of the members and solicited more prayers and support from the Church for farmers to succeed.
Mr. Inwang lauded the Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. (Mrs) Glory Edet for always carrying the farmers in the state along in government programmes and also commended the administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel for ensuring that farmers in the state get the necessary support and assistance to succeed.
The event also features special prayers to farmers and goodwill messages from different individuals who poured encomiums on the state Chairman of AFAN, Prince Bassey Inwang and prayed to God to grant his heart desires.
