Governorship race: ACA endorses OBA’s candidacy
…anoints him as next governor of Akwa Ibom State
By Benjamin Jimmy
Akwa Ibom Christian Assembly, ACA, has anointed and endorsed Senator Bassey Albert for governorship ahead of Saturday’s election, after many months of prayer meetings and waiting on God for the revelation of the right choice for the state.
In a prayer meeting held on Sunday, 5th March, 2023, at Destiny Global Assembly, Uyo, ACA, who announced and presented OBA to the people of the state as that revelation of God that must be allowed to find expression in the number one job of the state, reminded Christians that the will of God cannot be subverted by any individual.
Speaking at the event, ACA’s President, Archbishop Cletus Bassey, warned the people not to thwart the will of God for the state, by allowing those whom he described as invaders and wolves to buy their conscience with an amount that cannot pay their house rents nor feed their children for months.
“My name is Cletus Effiong Bassey, an apostle of Jesus Christ unto this land of Akwa Ibom State. I want to ask you a question. Is it time to take money and sell your conscience? Is it time to allow invaders like wolves and vultures to invade our land and take that which is ours? Is it time for us to sell the truth for the money that cannot even pay your house rents or feed your children for months?”
Archbishop Bassey, who made it clear that ACA was not against anybody, as every man has the right to contest for any position, however said he would exercise his right of choice by voting for the right candidate whom he said carries the mantle of leading the state.
“I’m not against anybody. Every man has the right to contest for any position, but I also have the right to choose who I vote for.
“I never said anything until now. It is because I believe that the reason why I’m standing and upon this altar is because this is where God called me to serve you. And I have served you over the years and this altar has sold me not”.
Archbishop Bassey, who acknowledged Senator Albert for his decision to join in the prayer meeting, urged the people, especially those who believe in his vision and respond to the inner voice of truth to join hands to support OBA, a man he said his time has come.
“ One of us has come into this house today who is standing an election for the governorship of Akwa Ibom State. His name is Senator Bassey Albert. Everyone of you today and those who are listening; may I, for those who believe with me to join me in my vision of yielding and responding to the inner voice of truth”.
In short sermon taken from 1 Tim. 1:18, Pastor Saturday admonished Christians never to lose sight of the fact that life is governed by what is written of them, and therefore, they must contend with that which God had written for the state.
He said unless the people rise and contend with the prophecies of God for their lives and state, there might not be a fulfilment of God’s purpose in the land.
The prayer meeting also featured worship, exhortations and prayers for peaceful election in the state, unity in the body of Christ, among other concerns in the body of Christ.
Ministers of God, including Apostle Akan Weeks, Apostle (Dr.) Anthony Akpan Udo, Apostle (Mrs.) Angela Ashong, Bishop Offiong, Apostle Frank Praise and Apostle Johnny Uko of Methodist Church led in the various segments.
Highpoint of the event had Archbishop Bassey, ordained Apostles and other Ministers of God surround, pray and anoint Senator Albert and wife, Pastor (Mrs.) Imabong, for victory at the polls.
