Aba-Ikot Ekpene Road Dualisation: Essien Udim Council Chairman assures contractors of security, cooperation
The contractors handling the rehabilitation and dualization of Aba-Ikot Ekpene Road, CGGC Global Project Nigeria Limited, has nothing to fear as construction of the Akwa Ibom State section of the road commenced in earnest.
This follows the determination of Essien Udim Local Government Chairman, Mr Anthony Luke, to provide adequate security and cooperation to the company.
The Chairman, who gave the assurance during the ground breaking of the Akwa Ibom state section of the Road at the company’s South-South corporate headquarters, Nsasak, along Ikot Ekpene-Aba Road, urged the host communities to give the contractors the necessary support and cooperation to succeed in the project execution.
While commending the Federal Government for awarding the contract, Mr. Anthony Luke promised to ensure that compensations are paid to owners of properties affected by the project.
According to the Chairman, the road will boost economic activities in the area when completed and commended the youths of the area for their support so far and solicited more cooperation from them to enable the company succeed.
“Essien Udim is a very peaceful place and we are glad to have you and your team here. We must commend our governor, Udom Emmanuel for the sustained peace in our area and his commitment to enthrone the peace we currently enjoyed in the area. We can assure you of adequate security throughout the period you will stay here and do your work and we are ready to give you all the necessary support you need to succeed. To the host communities, please cooperate with these people to succeed for our own good. As a council, I’ll ensure that all whose properties are affected by this construction get compensated,” the Chairman assured.
In his remarks, the Village Head of Nsasak, Chief Godwin Akpanudo, assured the company of the community’s support while calling on the company to ensure the community is carried along in their activities.
The Manager Operations, Mr. Wei lauded the Chairman of Essien Udim, Mr. Anthony Luke for the peaceful atmosphere the company has enjoyed so far and appealed for more support as construction work is about to commence on Akwa Ibom section of the road.
He explained ed that the project started in 2019 in Abia State because of the deplorable condition of that section of the road and assured speedy completion of work.
Also speaking, the site agent, Engr Usungo Essien, stated that all compensation will be paid to those whose properties are affected and called on the community to cooperate with the company.
