End ASUU strike protest: Tension as NANS, UNIUYO students brace up for showdown, Friday
Nigerian students across the country under the auspices of National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, are in high spirit ahead of the planned protest to impressed on the federal government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities to bring an end to the protracted ASUU strike.
In Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State Capital, students of the University of Uyo are upbeat for the End ASUU strike protest slated for Friday, 16th October, 2020.
A statement jointly signed by SUG President, UNIUYO, Comrade Emmanuel Akpan; President, National Association of Akwa Ibom State Students, NAAKISS, UNIUYO, Comrade Etimbuk Obohoso; Coordinator, NANS JCC Akwa Ibom State Axis, Comrade Edidiong Uko and S.A. on Media, NAAKISS, Presidency, UNIUYO, Comrade Virtue Spiffy indicated that the End ASUU strike protest starts by 7 pm.
“Due to the prolonged stay of students at home occasioned by the over 7 month-long ASUU strike, the Students’ Union Government, in partnership with affiliated Student bodies : NANS , NAAKISS Uniuyo chapter, etc; will be embarking on a peaceful protest to call on the federal Government to end the ongoing strike.
“This is part of the resolutions of the NANS Senate Meeting which held yesterday on zoom. Meeting Point is UNIUYO Main Gate, Ikpa Road.
“Dress code: Black, green/white. Come with only your face mask. No bags should be brought to the protest venue,” the statement read.
