Cross River Info Commissioner solicits cooperation with media community
Mr. Erasmus Ekpang, the newly sworn-in Cross River Commissioner for Information & Orientation, has emphasized the importance of collaboration between his office and state-based media organizations.
Ekpang confirmed that the aim and objective of the Information and Orientation Ministry are to portray the state in a positive light to the general public, maintaining that his ministry is fully committed to that objective, and appealed for synergy between the ministry and the media.
The appeal was made on Tuesday during a courtesy visit to him by members of the Government House Press Corps led by Comrade Nakanda Iyadim.
“We have to manage the information, change the narratives, and give the state a clean bright light in line with the philosophy of His Excellency, the Governor of Cross River State, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu.
“We are in a season of sweetness and the governor, Prince Bassey Otu, is a thoroughbred who even from his looks you will know that he wants the state to take a new brand.
“I therefore sue for synergy, would love to partner with you people, and learn the ropes because we are not perfect, even as I urge you never to forget that our primary objective is to rebrand the state and give it a total facelift,” the Information Commissioner remarked.
He insisted that he would continue to make every effort to be proactive, particularly aimed at improving the state’s reputation while disseminating the policies and initiatives of the current administration to the general public.
Iyadim, who is also the chairman of the Press Corps of the Governor’s Office, Calabar, congratulated the state mouthpiece of government on his selection and subsequent assumption of office and urged him to support the aims and objectives of the current government in the state, to enable it to deliver the dividends of democracy to its citizens.
Iyadim informed the Commissioner that his team is made up of individuals from different media organizations with the sole purpose of disseminating the government’s admirable initiatives, and the numerous laudable projects of the governor to the general public and the grassroots.
“We are ready to work with you in propagating the ‘peoples first mantra,’ of the governor, while ensuring that we take the good news and outlined development so recorded in the state, to the grassroots and the larger society”
“Your appointment came through work especially when one considers how you did so well as the state Publicity Secretary of the All Progressive Congress, redeeming the image of the party in the state”
“Hard work truly pays, for it was on that string that you were appointed to this exalted ladder, and we pray God to protect and preserve you as you continuously manage properly the image of our dear state” Iyadim stressed.
