Alleged Fund Embezzlement: APC suspends Aseembly Candidate, Chapter Chairman in Akwa Ibom
In a bid to instill discipline and corruption free amongst its members, the All Progressives Congress, APC, Orukanam chapter, Akwa Ibom State had suspended their 2023 Candidate for the State House of Assembly, Mr Aniekan Solomon Abraham on ground of financial embezzlement, corrupt practices, fraudulent behaviour, high-handedness, dubiousness and anti party activities.
In a suspensions letter copied to the Akwa Ibom State Chairman of the party, Obong Stephen Leo Ntokekpo after an enlarged Orukanam APC Ward 6 Stakeholders meeting presided over by the ward Chairman, Mr Uyobong John Udom, the Stakeholders described the action of their son, Mr Aniekan Solomon Abraham as barbaric, greediness, betrayal of trust, unscrupulous, illusory, concocted, crooked and hoax, and dissociated themselves from such a disingenuous person
The letter which was signed by 17 members of the ward executive listed some of the fallacious and specious financial acts of the suspended candidate to include embezzlement of the party’s 6.5million naira which was meant for the thirteen wards of the Local Government Area during the
Party’s campaign tour of the Area, pocketing of 2 million naira donated by their Leader and Senator-Elect during a thank you visit to the Area, embezzlement of the twenty thousand naira sachets water for the 220 political units in the Area totaling 4.442million during the Presidential/National Assembly elections, collection of millions of naira from the PDP Candidate for Ukanafun/Orukanam Federal Constituency and upturned the results of the APC Candidate in favour of the candidate of PDP, among others.
In his reaction, an Elder of the Party in the ward, Hon Akpan Udo described the candidate’s action as swindling, deceitful, scam, underhanded and disappointing noted his most painful action as the one meant for the sachets water during the Presidential/National Assembly elections, which according to the Elder Mr Aniekan Solomon did not believe Senator Akpabio would win the election.
Those who signed the suspension letter on behalf of ward 6 APC Stakeholders are Mr Uyobong John Udom Chairman, Otobong Bassey Udo Youth Leader, Paul Monday Ben Legal Adviser, Emmeayak Monday Akpan Assist Legal Adviser, Aniefiok Paul Financial Secretary and Iniobong Peter Akpan Assist Organizing Secretary. Others are Etimbuk Godfred Robbert Assist Welfare Officer, Friday Silas Akpan Assist Youth Leader, Ubong Obo Obo Auditor, Idongesit Aniefiok, Kingsley Monday Akpan, Bassey Mbehe, Friday Okon Ntia Ex-officio 1,2,3&4 respectively and Ime James Udo, Physically challenge Leader.
In the same vain, the APC Ward Chairmen and Chapter Officers in Orukanam had confirmed and endorsed the suspension of Mr Aniekan Solomon Abraham from members of the party in his ward, ward 6. In a letter captioned “EMBEZZLEMENT OF ORUKANAM APC FUNDS BY ANIEKAN ABRAHAM SOLOMON” addressed to the State Chairman of the party Obong Stephen Ntokekpo and signed by 9 Ward Chairmen and 13 Chapter Officers of the party, the letter stated that his dubious attitude started when he and the suspended chapter Chairman, Elder Christopher Nelson George absconded with the Delegates’ money during the last Gubernatorial primary of the party.
The letter which commended the State leadership of the party for taken the party to an enviable height through its transparent running of the party, urging the party’s leaders to ensure that erring members are disciplined to save as a deterrent to others.
Ward Chairmen who signed the endorsement letter are Mr Godwin Alexander Akpan(ward1), Sifon Aniefiok Ekam(ward3), Sunday Johnson Udoinyang (ward5), Uyobong John Udom (ward6), Ndifreke Monday Mbat(ward7), Emmanuel Ekim(ward8), Idem Udo Uko(ward11), Aniekan Marcus Jacob (ward12) and Baribe Idobu Bie(ward13). And Chapter Officers who signed the suspension letter are Idongesit Raymond (Chapter Vice Chairman), Hon Augustine Maurice Akpan (Chapter Secretary), Akaninyene Udofa(Assist Sec), Bernard Udoh(Treasurer), and David Ekanem(Assist Org Secretary). Others are Esther Aniedi James(Auditor), Ekpeno Aniefiok Paul (Assist Auditor), Itoro William Jumbo (Welfare Officer), Bassey Friday Essien (Assist Welfare Officer), Caleb Sylvanus Albert (Youth Leader), Aniebiong Monday Effiong (Woman Leader), Austin Joseph Okoro (Asst Legal Adviser) and Mboutidem Udontak, Physically challenge Leader. The statement urged Mr Aniekan Solomon to refund their money within 7days to avoid legal action.
Meanwhile, the Chapter Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Orukanam Elder Christopher Nelson George had also been suspended from the office with immediate effect. In a letter signed by 9 out of 13 Ward Chairmen in the Area and 13 chapter Officers of the party stated colossal misconduct, fraudulent attitude, embezzlement of the party’s funds, anti party activities, high-handedness, conspiracy with the suspended House of Assembly candidate to abscond with the party funds and financial misappropriation amongst others as offends committed by the suspended chapter Chairman.
The statement directed the suspended chapter Chairman to handover all the party’s properties with him to his Deputy, Mr Idongesit Raymond.
