Yuletide: Essien Udim Chairman’s wife fetes women, widows
As part of the new year celebration, the wife of Essien Udim Local Government Chairman, Mrs. Umoh Gabriel TonyUdoh has feted women and widows in the area.
Mrs TonyUdoh who presented wrappers, rice, other food items and some cash to the widows and some women encouraged them to continue to trust in God for better days, promising more dividends of democracy to the rural women.
The Essien Udim First Lady who commended her husband Mr. Anthony Luke for always having the interest of women at heart, stressed that the Chairman is committed to making life better for women at the grassroots.
Mrs. TonyUdoh lauded the state Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel for maintaining peace in the State and for giving her husband’s administration the necessary support to perpetuate and sustain peace and security of lives and property of the people of Essien Udim describing the Governor as “a man of peace.””
She expressed gratitude to the PDP governorship candidate, Pastor Umo Eno for donating some bags of rice to Essien Udim women in celebration of Christmas and new year, stating that Essien Udim women will reciprocate the gesture by voting for him and PDP in the forthcoming elections.
The Chairman’s wife also appreciated PDP Ward Women Leaders across the different Wards in Essien Udim for their undaunted loyalty and cooperation with her husband’s administration over the past two years and appealed to them to remain resolute in their support as she is poised to ensure improved welfare for the women of the area.
The highly elated and emotional widows and women who could not hide their joy, prayed for God’s protection, long life and guidance to the chairman’s family and his administration.
In her good will message, the wife of the Political Leader of Essien Udim, Deaconess Theresa Michael Afangideh, expressed gratitude to the Chairman’s wife for her motherly disposition and compassionate heart, adding that she has done more than expected and charged the women to continue to support the administration of Mr. Anthony Luke to succeed.
On her part, the wife of the Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Mrs Eme Camillus Umoh, who described the Chairman of Essien Udim Local Government Council as a leader with a golden heart, thanked him for carrying Essien Udim women along in his administration and prayed for God’s wisdom and protection to the chairman, his family and members of his executive.
Also speaking, the Vice Chairman of Essien Udim Local Government Council, Hon. (Mrs) Emem Ekarika, lauded the Chairman’s wife for leading the women of Essien Udim well while the PDP Chapter Women Leader, Hon. (Mrs) Rose Thompson, described the Chairman’s wife as an “uncommon giver”, as “Essien Udim women has never had it so good”.
The highlights of the event was praise and worship and special prayer for the dedication of the year 2023 and peaceful elections in the state and the country in general.
