Governor Emmanuel has fixed a square peg in a square hole – MoA Staff
The Akwa Ibom State, Governor Emmanuel has been commended for his choice of Dr.Glory Edet as commissioner in the Ministry of Agriculture for a second time.
In a random interview carried out by our reporter, some staff of the ministry who were highly elated noted that in the past 1 year that the commissioner has been on the saddle, staff morale, work ethics and other staff qualities have improved tremendously due to the commissioner’s leadership disposition.
According to them, the hitherto deserted look which was the hallmark of the ministry, has given way to activism across various departments as the commissioner has ushered in an era of commitment to duties hence, staff now put in their very best in an atmosphere of peace and relaxation as most of them now work without supervision from any quarter.
They expressed appreciation to Governor Emmanuel over Dr. Edet’s recent comeback which they described as a return of “madam incentives” who has the interest of her children at heart at all times.
The staff noted that the last one year of the commissioner’s sojourn in the ministry has marked a dawn of new era as even out station staff, who were forgotten in the scheme of things before the commissioner’s arrival, now hold themselves out as proud staff of agriculture ministry and always proud to be identified as one.
“For the past eight years I have been posted here, I have not seen any commissioner who takes the issue of staff welfare and incentives as serious as Dr.Glory Edet.
“Her arrival in the ministry ushered in an era of selfless service and assistance to staff who were living in abject poverty” ,recalled a staff of the ministry who preferred anonymity.
Only recently, the state chairman of All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Akwa Ibom state branch, Mr.Bassey Inwang also acknowledged the contributions of Dr. Glory Edet which is derivable from her motherly disposition to his members.
According to the AFAN chairman, the agricultural sector in the state which was in limbo had been resuscitated and made to receive the necessary boost it deserves on the assumption of this commissioner through the granting of soft loans, grants and other incentives aimed at developing the agricultural sector.
Mr. Inwang enjoined the commissioner to continue to remain focused in the discharge of her duties and pledge the total support of his members at all times.
