Engr Larry Esin has declared for Akwa Ibom 2023 governorship race
A new twist has emerged in Akwa Ibom 2023 governorship race.
This follows the declaration of Engr. Larry Esin to run for the soul of the Hilltop Mansion, Akwa Ibom State Government House, come 2023, the fourth in his persistent attempts to become the Governor of Akwa Ibom State.
Engr. Esin declared his intention to throw his hat into the ring on the platform of APC on Wednesday, 18th May, 2022 at Amunice Event Centre, 85 Aka Itiam Street, Uyo.
His entrance into the race, observers say, has presented ‘a third option’ in the build up to the tension-soaked Akwa Ibom 2023 governorship race.
In his declaration, Engr. Larry Esin posited that he is in the race to unite Akwa Ibom State and make the people feel the impact of good government with a view to lifting them out of poverty and economic stagnation.
He promised to run an all-inclusive .government when given the mandate in addition to establishing a new structure that lays emphasis on capacity building, human empowerment, youth development and job creation rather than commissioning nonfunctional buildings in the name of projects.
While acknowledging that 65% of Akwa Ibom workforce constitutes artisans, the governorship hopeful lamented that the sector has not received enough support from government and pledged to change the narratives by promoting home-grown solutions to Akwa Ibom challenges.
“Let’s invest in our own enterprises. I come to invest in local enterprises for improved productivity. If you want to improve the economy of the state, improve productivity in that sector.
“You must create jobs for the teeming population of youths in Akwa Ibom. We can only achieve this through the introduction of economic stimulus programmes and policies that will felicitate industrialisation and Foreign Investments in strategic sectors,” Esin maintained.
