Uyo Senatorial Seat: Rev Edidiong John backs Matron Award
An integrity based and good governance advocacy group, Ibom Sons and Daughters (IBOSAD), has honoured one of her own, Rev. (Dr) EDIDIONG JOHN, as group’s Matron.
The House of Assembly(senate) hopeful was honoured alongside several others on Thursday, 28th April, 2022, during the inauguration of the group’s central executives committee, at Ibom Tropicana in Uyo.
Rev. Edidiong John hails from Anua Offot, Uyo local government, Akwa Ibom State. She was born on the 6th of January, 1965 to the family of Cyril Uduak of Anua Village. She is blessed with a lovely family.
According to her brief citation, Rev. Edidiong John is the CEO of Mothers In Nigeria Foundation, an NGO that is nationally focused on Women Empowerment and the Development of the Girl Child. She is one of the few women passionate about the development of our dear state.
As a woman with varied work experience and achievements, Rev. Edidiong worked at the Second Conference of members of African, Caribbean and Pacific countries (ACP)/European Union in partnership with the National Assembly where she served as the Coordinator of the Nigerian staff in 2000.
Furthermore, in 2012 she championed the advocacy for the planting of Moringa tree in Akwa Ibom State, an economic and medicinal plant that has helped many Akwa Ibom people both in health and in finances today. This earned her the name “Ma Moringa” on the World Environment Day in 2012 when she introduced the moringa tree and promised that it would stand in Akwa Ibom like Atama, Editan etc. Her efforts led to the Akwa State Government receiving the sum of N400 million ecological fund for the development of this plant in 2014.
In 2016, Rev. Edidiong aka Ma Moringa, the Senate hopeful in partnership with WomanAfrica brought to the State, Seed Grant to over 200 women. Also, in 2018 there was a partnership between her NGO and Mujere Entre Mundos an NGO from Spain. The partnership led to greater awareness on Gender Violence which also led to training and skill acquisition for women from Eket and Uyo Senatorial Districts.
Her Educational background reveals that she holds a theological qualification from the Holyland Theological college, Abuja. She holds a B.A in Communication Arts from the University of Uyo. She’s an alumnus of the Loreto Girls School, Eriam- Affaha Obong, Abak and that of the Holy Child Convent School, Anua Uyo, where she completed her secondary and primary education respectively.

Presenting to Rev. Dr. Edidiong the Award of a Matron to one of the biggest and outstanding organizations in the State and the diaspora, Ibom Sons and Daughters (IBOSAD), the group’s Board of Trustees(BOT) Chairman Rev. Dr. Ernest Enoidem described Rev. Edidiong as a silent achiever who has been adding value to lives without blowing the cover. As such, the award becomes functionally necessary in recognition of her integrity, sense of industry and passion for service.
“She has been adding value to our people without necessarily making noise around. However, we believe now is the time to reward her passionate efforts” – he added.
