2023 Governorship: Pastor Umo Eno submits to God
As the political atmosphere in the state gradually gathers steam, Pastor Umo Eno has submitted himself to God, by seeking blessings from the church as he begins his campaigns ahead of 2023 governorship elections.
He has also disclosed that his preferred choice as the next governor of Akwa Ibom State is entirely the will of God.
The Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources who was speaking earlier today at the Believers’ Assembly Cathedral in Uyo, told the mammoth congregation who converged on the venue that he decided to consult his primary constituency first as a Pastor before he could launch out to other areas.
Pastor Eno said his action was occasioned by his undaunted belief in God as one who chooses leaders and anoints them, while also admonishing the church to rise and lead the way for the light to triumph over darkness.
The aspirant posited that, ahead of 2023 governorship election, the Akwa Ibom people are faced with two choices: light and darkness, but enjoined the church to choose light over darkness so that the state would not be taken back to those days where evil ruled and the peace in the land was threatened.
The Commissioner, who alluded to many scriptures as a source of his assurance of victory in the coming race, likened his choice to the story of how God chose David despite his lowly status, while aligning that his humble beginning to stardom was a lesson that God does not look at one’s appearance, but the heart.
The Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources hinted that one of his programmes would be to encourage the youth, especially, to start small and rise to stardom which, according to him, represents his past and present achievements.
He challenged the new generation church to learn from the old generation by always coming together, stressing that unless this is done, the church might not take up her position in leadership, but would certainly allow promoters of evil plunge the state into evil as it was in the past.
Pastor Eno however thanked Gov. Udom Emmanuel for making Akwa Ibom peaceful. He also expressed appreciation to the Fathers -in-Faith whom he said overwhelmed him with their great numeric presence on the occasion.
Preaching on the topic: “ There shall be a performance”, drawn from Luke Chapter 1: 45, the coordinator of Bishops, South-South, Most Rev. Emmanuel Udofia, urged the church to embrace Pastor Eno whom he said was given by God as Gov. Udom’s successor.
The coordinator, who contended that it was wrong to impose miracles on non-believers, however said the choice of Pastor Eno was a miracle that must be seen as such by the church.
Also speaking, the Director of Pastor Umo Eno Campaign Organization, Chief Asam Asam, who was represented by the campaign Deputy Director, Godwin Ntuk Udeh ( (PhD.), said God has chosen a man who understands what peace means.
He questioned how God could have proven that He has answered all the prayers made in the state if not in giving the state another man who will continue in the legacy of peace building.
Ntuk Udeh therefore, called on the church to embrace her own to continue the developmental strides of Gov. Udom Emmanuel beyond 2023.
Others who spoke at the service were; the National Coordinator, Maintain Peace Movement, MPM, Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem, President -General, Fathers-in- Faith, Prelate (Prof.) Isaiah Isong, the state chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Rev. Daniel Akwatang, among others.
Highpoint of the event was the offering of prayers to Pastor Eno for God’s guidance by Fathers-in-Faith, as he begins the race.
It would be recalled that Gov. Udom Emmanuel recently presented Pastor Umo Eno as his preferred choice over other aspirants, and this has generated a lot of questions, ill-feelings and perhaps banters as well in many quarters.
