Oppositions are right about Governor Hope Uzodinma:
By this time last year, Owerri was a mess. It was some days after the inglorious reign of Okorocha. Owerri was flooded. No good road.
It was also few weeks after Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha was sworn-in as the Governor of Imo State. He met rot occasioned by Okorocha’s maladministration.
Imolites hoped that the roads would be put to good shapes as soon as Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha took over the reins of leadership in the State. But the governor told us to wait until after the raining season. He gave his reasons, chief of which was that it would cost double the money that would be spent on the roads in the state under the rains to fix the roads.
My brothers and I in the PDP supported Governor Hope Uzodinma’s stance and through our posts and comments web told Imolites why they should be patient with the administration of Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha on the poor condition of roads in Owerri. Somehow, we sustained the narrative until the raining season came to an end and road contracts were awarded. We even argued that it wasn’t possible for the Governor to fix the roads just within few months in office.
But Governor Hope Uzodinma has stubbornly defied the weather. He is working on Imo roads under the heavy rains.
Strange! Governor Hope Uzodinma wants to change how we do things here. We will not allow him.
Little wonder those who believed that it wasn’t possible to construct roads in wet condition are uploading pictures of roads that are yet to get the attention of the governor. Don’t blame them. “This is a strange Governor, let’s give strange opposition,” they might have reasoned.
Shouldn’t Governor Hope Uzodinma spare himself of the criticisms by also telling Imolites that it is not possible to build roads in the raining season?
He should order the contractors handling the roads in Imo State to pause, leave and return to sites when the rains are gone!
We shall applaud him just as we did some time ago. We shall make similar excuses!
We do not know what Governor Hope Uzodinma intends to achieve by constructing roads while it rains! Why in earth must he construct roads in the state?! Why must he shame those who failed to construct roads during the raining season?
It is not our style here. Governor, please, we beg you, stop it! We can swim, Sir Haba! Who is he trying to impress?
Those who asked for patience are now impatience. They want Governor Hope Uzodinma to turn Imo to London just in six months – three of the six months were spent indoors because of the pandemic.
Please I stand with the opposition today. It is now very possible to put in good shape all the bad roads in and outside Owerri in just three months!
Yes, construction should be going on simultaneously on all the roads in Owerri and completed before December 31st.
Failure to do that, there will be a repeat of what happened in 1852.
