Drum Majors for Peace, FOPRICA, Earthspring float Feed One Initiative outreach to mark World Food Day 2021
In commemoration of World Food Day, 2021, the Drum Majors for Peace in partnership with Friends of the Prisoners Care-givers Apostolate (FOPRICA) of the Catholic Chaplaincy Corrections Service and EARTHSPRING are set to float Feed One Initiative outreach in Abuja.
The theme for this year’s World Food Day is “Our Actions are our Future-Better Productions, Better Nutrition A better environment and a better life.”
A release by the organisers of the outreach made available to MORENEWSNG indicates that the event will take place on Saturday 16th October 2021 at Dukpa Correctional Centre, Gwagwalada, Abuja by 2:00 pm
with the theme “If you can’t feed a hundred people, then feed just one.”
According to the release, FEED ONE INITIATIVE is an advocacy outreach to promote Zero hunger (Gold 2 of the SDG’s), promote Agriculture, good health and wellbeing as well as build sustainable cities and communities, coined from Mother Theresa’s famous quote “If you can’t feed a hundred people, then FEED JUST ONE.”
“Feed One Initiative has catered to the immediate needs of marginalized and underprivileged individuals, mostly women and children through several campaigns and outreaches involving activities such as paper presentations, exhibition of Agricultural products, distribution of food and relief materials to those that need them.
“Every day, millions of children around the world go to school on an empty stomach—hunger affects their concentration and ability to learn.
“With the initiative, we seek to feed, train and heal as many people as possible but it starts with at least one person at a time,” the release read.
The organisers, therefore, urge well place and public-spirited individuals to support the feed, one initiative team, to feed the hungry in the streets and homes and also promote agriculture and sustainable development while soliciting financial, material, media, technical and other forms of support for the event to succeed.
