2023 Presidency: Missing the Road to Macedonia
Is there anything wrong with Nigeria? When did it begin? Who can fix it? With many miles remaining ahead of 2023, agents of confusion have started misting Buhari’s rational binoculars. Whoever had put up a distress call: “come over to Macedonia and help us” should be rest assured that we will miss the road again.
Today, Jonathan; tomorrow, Umahi. There are also the confusion specialists of Tinubu and El-rufai. President Muhammadu Buhari will never make the mistake of supporting a popular candidate. He will go for the worst; he will enthrone the worst; because we are a country that thrives in worst situations. Shame!
If an angel in Heaven has ever complained of headache, proper diagnosis will show Nigeria as a sole causative agent. After all, Nigeria itself is suffering from a self-inflicted terminal disease.
But if banal politics has not helped us, must we make it a tradition? NO!
If Dave Umahi moved to APC to scuttle the rumoured purported planned return of Goodluck Jonathan to Aso Rock, Umahi will lose from both ends. If Jonathan succeeded, it would have been gainful to Umahi as an Igbo man. In 2011, Jonathan concentrated more in justifying an “Azikiwe” he smuggled into his name than developing his region. Now, his first calculated obstacle is an Igbo man. Igbo stabs “Igbo.”
But of the truth, it will be easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for an Igbo man in the South East region to become the elected president of Nigeria. An outsider Igbo like Jonathan would have been a good bait.
President Buhari should look deep, think deep and redraw the movement map for the timely advancement, reclamation and reparative surgery on our Macedonia. The road will be bumpy and murky. Every road to reformation is always as tormenting. But determination and good vision surmount mountains.
This could be Buhari’s first and only vision in eight years. That will be enough. We will thank Buhari for the parting gift, even if there were no other gifts throughout the eight “snailly” years.
Let us not miss our road to Macedonia again. Posterity has beckoned on us to come over. Pilot Buhari, are you with me? Over to you Sir!
This is my birthday gift to Dr Goodluck Ebele “Azikiwe” Jonathan. Happy birthday Big Man!
