Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem meets Mbo PDP
… warns PDP Chapter Executives and Ward Statutory Delegates against “secret oath-taking” ahead of 2023

The Secretary to the state government of Akwa Ibom State, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem has harped on unity among stakeholders, leaders, and party structure across all levels in Mbo PDP to foster positive advancement ahead of 2023.
Addressing the gathering of the party leadership and its members at Oron, on Saturday, April 24, 2021, the state chief scribe and the political leader in Mbo expressed grief over the death of the state chairman of the party, late Obong Udo Ekpeyong who served as the state party chairman for months before his untimely death.
Dr Ekuwem noted that, as a leader, Ekpenyong was principled, steadfast, loyal, trustworthy, and loved all as he was equally well-loved, as he requested to honoured him with a one minute of silence.
Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem took out time to counsel all the entire executives in Mbo PDP on the alleged secret oath-taking scandal, describing it as barbaric, puerile, and malicious.
Stressing that the position they are occupying was given to them on trust and that when it is time, Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem said stakeholders in Mbo PDP would be called upon to return the same trust.
He expressed dissatisfaction in politicians who are indulged in bringing people from Uyo to induce the party executives from their domain but tasked the entire executives and political followers to calm down that when it is time, the governor who gave them the positions in the party will speak to give a direction.
On issues of development in the state, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem said the governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel is committed to the development of the state than the next election at the moment. Ekuwem added that the governor is on course to delivering all his campaign promises across the state.
Meanwhile, the state chief scribe also called upon the local government chairman, paramount ruler, village heads, and village youth presidents in Mbo to report to the security operatives any formation of Biafra groups operating in their areas.
He further stressed that the governor has warned if such group is being found in their areas without reporting to the appropriate authority, such leaders will be sacked.
Also reacting, the Deputy Coordinator of Divine Mandate and stakeholder in Mbo PDP, Chief Eyo Okon Edet, thanked the Secretary to the State Governmet, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem for organizing a meeting with the party.
He thanked all the party executives for being steadfast despite the loss of the late party state chairman.
Chief Eyo stated that those politicians who use secret oath-taking as a means to luring the party executives to themselves do that at their own risk.
He gave his reasons based on the fact that those who are in the party executives will always follow in their mentors’ footsteps. In his suggestion, he said there is a need for the leaders and stakeholders in Mbo to be having meetings like this with the party at least every two months.
Meanwhile, the Mbo council boss, Rt. Hon. Asukwo Effiong Eyo stated that those who enmeshed in politics of secret oath-taking from politicians should think twice, as such practice is alien to the people of Mbo right from time immemorial.
He advised party executives to be patient. While recalling his earlier charge to the party, the council boss made a case for stakeholders and leaders of the party in Mbo to remain united, accountable, loyal, and committed to the cause of PDP in the state.
In closing remarks, the Chapter Chairman of Mbo PDP, Mr. Etetim Okon Isemin, added that the executive officers did not engage in secret oath-taking as the public was made to believe, explaining that he did not summon any meeting or request for expression of loyalty from anyone.
He assured the leaders and stakeholders of the party in Mbo that the entire party structure in Mbo is committed to waiting patiently until when they would hear from the party hierarchy in the state and His Excellency, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel.
In attendance were the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem, the State Deputy Coordinator, Divine Mandate, Chief Eyo Okon Edet, Chapter Chairman, Mr. Etetim Isemin, Council Boss, Rt. Hon. Asukwo Effiong Eyo.
Others were former State PDP Vice Chairman, Sir Michael Essang, the State PDP Assistant Youth leader 3, Mr. Sunday Okon Etim, Bishop Ulap Etim Ante, Former Chief Wipe and SSA to the Governor, Rt. Hon. Alice Ekpenyong, Commissioner 1 Judicial Service Commission, Chief Barr. Edet Atada.
Chief Oscar Odoro, the Council Secretary, Mr. Mfon Bassey, SSA to the Governor, Mr. Christopher Bassey, Former Chapter Chairman, Hon. Ita Iniekung, Former Chapter Chairman and SSA to the Governor, Hon. Emmanuel Isikong, Honorary Special Adviser to the Governor, Rt. Hon. Okon Asuqwo Frank, Former Commissioner of Information, Crown Prince Chris Abasieyo, and other stakeholders also attended the meeting..
