12.5km Ikot Akpan Afaha-Ikot Oku Usung Road: Ukanafun Council Chairman lauds Governor Emmanuel over rural infrastructural development
The Chairman of Ukanafun Local Government Council, Pastor Godwin Iyieng has commended Governor Udom Emmanuel’s administration for infrastructural development in the area.
The Chairman stated this during the Commissioning of 12.5km Ikot Akpan Afaha-Ikot Oku Usung Road in Ukanafun LGA by the state governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel along with the Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Duoye Diri on Friday, 22nd April 2023.
The Council boss lauded the Governor for not playing politics with road projects in the state but ensuring standard and durability of all the roads constructed in the state by his administration and added that the Governor is a “silent performer.”
According to the chairman, the administration of Mr. Udom Emmanuel has executed and completed more life touching project than any administration and pledged the support of the people of Ukanafun to the Governor’s completion agenda and beyond by extending the same cooperation to the incoming administration by Pastor Umo Eno.
The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, in his address, thanked the people of Ukanafun for supporting his administration and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to succeed in the just concluded 2023 elections maintaining that the road project was part of his Completion Agenda and his five point agenda which focuses on rural infrastructure and electricity.
The Governor however regretted not commissioning Ukanafun General Hospital along as envisaged due to delay by the contracted who has since absconded and promised to leave the fund for the hospital project with the Ministry of Health for the work to be completed whenever the contractor returns.
The State Chief Executive thanked the Governor of Bayelsa, Senator Duoye Diri for finding time out of his busy schedules and despite the fact that he is bereaved to join him to commission the project and vow to stand by him in his re-election bid and also consoled him for his father’s demise.
While commissioning the road project, the Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Duoye Diri said Akwa Ibom has witnessed real transformation under Governor Emmanuel’s administration adding that the Governor has performed very well.
Diri who described Governor Emmanuel as a man that has character, integrity, fear of God and genuine love for his people and called on the people of the state to continue to support the Governor to end well and also extend the same hand of fellowship to the Governor – Elect, Pastor Umo Eno.
In his good will message, the member representating Ukanafun/Uruk Anam Federal Constituency, Hon. Unyime Idem who expressed gratitude to the Governor said that for doing the road, the governor has demonstrated his love for the people and interest in the socio-economic development of the area.
The Political Leader of Ukanafun in his remarks said Ukanafun people will ever remain grateful to Governor Emmanuel’s administration for constructing the road which according to him will boost economic activities in the area.
The State Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Elder. Aniekan Akpan who lauded the Governor for living up to the expectation of the party and the people of the state while thanking the governor for honouring him and the people of Ukanafun who have over the years yearns for a good and motorable road.
