VGN to Host National Unarmed Combat Training in Calabar
The national headquarters of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) will be hosting its first National Unarmed Combat Training (NUCT) event in Calabar, Cross River State capital from July 11-14, 2024.
The training, themed “Human Kinetic and Sports: The Nexus for Securing Nigeria,” aims to equip security personnel with modern non-kinetic, combating, defensive, and offensive techniques to combat insecurity and foster a peaceful environment for growth and development.
The event is organized in collaboration with the Fixed Martial Art and Superior Taekwondo Association, will take place at the Sports Auditorium of the University of Calabar.
According to the Release made available to the news men on Monday, signed by the Cross River State Commandant, Dr. Moses Ogar, the statement said the training exercise is designed to “Equip security personnel with modern non-kinetic, combating as well as defensive and offensive techniques to demolish insecurity and allow for a peaceful environment for growth and development to thrive.”
Added that, “After the training, all VGN personnel would be “more grounded in skills to perform their tasks in collaboration with other security agencies in the state.”
The Commandant General of VGN, Navy Capt. Abubakar Umar Bakori (Retd), and the National Director of Sports and Training, Grandmaster Ebose Michael, will be in attendance to oversee the event.
The Commandant General has advised the officers to “Always abide by the rules and regulations of the VGN and obey the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as they discharge their duties.”
In preparation for the training, the VGN has commenced a verification exercise of essential documents, including appointment letters, educational credentials, and VGN certificates, at the VGN state headquarters behind the Transcorp Hotel in Calabar.

“The National Unarmed Combat Training is aims to strengthen the security capabilities of the VGN personnel and contribute to the overall safety and security of the state” the statement said.
