Ediene 2: Senator Etok tasks PDP Elders on unity
… pledges his support for Ikono Elders
Elders of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ediene 2, ward 11, Ikono LGA have been advised to deliberately stay away from acts capable of causing disaffection and divisive tendencies among them in the ward as they continue to hope for the future.
The charge was contained as part of the speech by Senator Aloysius Etok during the meeting of the Forum at the Edem Iyere’s country home of Engr. Nsini Nkopuruk who is the Chairman PDP Elders Forum, Ediene 2, ward 11, Ikono LGA.
Senator Etok used the occasion to thank Elders of the ward for their selfless sacrifices and commitments in protecting and stoutly defending the principles and ideals of the Peoples Democratic Party in the ward and by extension sustaining the philosophy of the founding fathers of the party which was primarily to win elections at all levels for the party.
The attendant faith in the party, according to the highly experienced and celebrated legislator, will certainly translate into massive infrastructural and human development in the ward.
On the cases of abandoned road projects and under-development of the ward, Senator Etok maintained that the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel has assured him of the reconstruction of all the roads and projects that were unjustly abandoned by the previous administration.
“It is just a matter of time, Ediene Usung Itu, ward 11, will experience massive turn-around of humans and infrastructural development courtesy of the Government of Gov. Udom Emmanuel,q” Sanator Etok said.
The former chairman, Senate Committee on Pension and Establishment, seized the opportunity to clear some allegations and impression in some quarters about his involvement in roads contract in the area; disclosing that the abandoned Uyo Afaha Nkan/Urua Naira market road projects were commissioned with the complete money paid for the said contract by the previous administration without any recourse.
A case he (Senator Etok) vehemently challenged the government of the day then and the contractors too. The road according to him, was used as a conduite pipe.
The former National Assembly lawmaker, passionately appealed to the people of the Ward to keep faith with Gov. Udom Emmanuel’s administration and leadership, as he is poise to remedy the situation in a no distant period. Distinguished Senator Etok promised the Elders and people of ward 11, and Ikono LGA of his readiness to join forces with the Government of Udom Emmanuel to develop the area and its people, even as he hope to start it all over again for his people.
On his part, the Chairman, Ediene 2, ward 11, PDP Elders Forum and pioneer PDP chairman, Ikono chapter, Engr. Nsini Nkopuruk thanked Senator Aloysius Etok immensely for always identifying with his people at the grassroots. Engr. Nkopuruk on behalf of the Ward 11 PDP Elders Forum promised to always support and work with Senator Aloysius Etok for a strong and formidable PDP family that will carter for the socio-political and economic needs of the people of the ward in particular and Ikono LGA in general.
The foremost politician described Senator Aloysius Etok as a no “laptop politician”, but a politician with wit, grits and strong character whose pedigree stands him out as a political colossus both in the State and national. He paid glowing tributes to Gov. Udom Emmanuel and his team in the state for the strides they have recorded so far as a government.
