… As parents, doctors, teachers caution govt against school re-opening
The Nigeria Union of Teachers has expressed concern over school re-opening in some parts of the country.
The National President of the Union, Nasir Idris while speaking in a television interview insists teachers may abandon classes if COVID-19 protocols are not provided in both urban and rural areas.
The NUT President informed the public that the union will take state-by-state stock to ensure that in places where there are no provision for COVID-19 protocols, teachers withdraw their services.
Meanwhile parents and medical doctors had earlier advised government against hasty reopening of schools without adequate preparation to ensure safety of both the learners and teachers.
Some teachers in tge same way said they may not resume untill Personal protecting eqiupments are provided for them.
Speaking with Morenews, some parents in Akwa Ibom State, said they may not release their children to school unless government put approriate measures in place to ensure safety of their wards in school.
Many states in the country have announced resumption dates for both public private schools after about six months of lockdown due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
