Samuel Ukut: The Man With The Midas Touch
As a people yearning for qualitative, focused and result-oriented representation in the next political dispensation, we must deliberately and consciously go for a man with proven integrity and track record of excellence.
We are again at that time where our decisions today will determine where we’ll be development-wise in the next four years and beyond. This is a time we must carefully, dispassionately and diligently assess those seeking to represent us in various offices in 2023. It’s a time to say no to cheap ephemeral gains for greater gains.
The race for the next House of Assembly seat for Ikot Ekpene/Obot Akara State Constituency is gathering pace with many already indicating interest for the job. It is the exclusive right of those eying the seat to throw their hats in the ring, but it is our place to critically examine them, their antecedents, blueprints and plans for the people of this Constituency before giving them our collective mandates.
We must tread cautiously in order not to fall into a trap that glitters, looks alluring, but will ultimately bring nothing but doom and backwardness to a people that have once borne the pangs of ineffective representation with costly equanimity. This is the time to right our wrong choices of the past by going for a man with the midas touch that will bring widespread development to the two local government areas that makes up this Constituency.
The man that will steer the ship of Parliament effectively for the people of Ikot Ekpene/Obot Akara State Constituency is someone whose antecedents, capacity and tenacity is an open book. He is a man that needs little or no introduction whether in the politics of the state or in Annang Land. Mr. Samuel Alexander Ukut is the man we have been waiting for. He is the icing on our cake, the bridge builder we’ve been yearning for, the solution to our years of pain and penury. He’s the one poised to throw to the waste bin of negative history, our lamentation and plant on our faces, unending celebration.
Prince Ukut is fired up to offer a kind of representation that will bring about a renaissance in our Constituency. He has the magic wand, knows the utmost yearnings of the people, and is armed with workable, implementable solutions to them all. He’s no stranger to the people or the terrain. Mr. Ukut is a household name whose imprints are visible in Ikot Ekpene, Obot Akara and other surrounding local government areas. He is calm, cool, collected, lovable and a fine gentlemen raring to step up the narrative of representation in Ikot Ekpene/Obot Akara State Constituency.
Prince Ukut is at home with his people. He will stop at nothing in making sure that he attends to the core needs and aspirations of the people. He’s not coming into the fray as a greenhorn. He’s been around in the political circuit for a long time hence understands the people, knows what bothers them, and has a burning desire to address those worries if he is given the mandate to speak for the people of Ikot Ekpene/Obot Akara State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly from 2023.
Nobody wants to have a parliamentarian that will go to the House and get lost in the crowd or play second fiddle. The people do not want a man that is selfish, one that will concur to everything and anything arrived at in the House of Assembly, but one that knows his onions. A courageous fellow that will fully be part of the policies and politics of the House and at the end show great results for his representation. Ikot Ekpene/Obot Akara State Constituency needs an outspoken, intellectually sound and people-centric representative who will put the people first above his own personal interests. That man is Prince Samuel Alexander Ukut. He has shown in his public, private engagements that he is not selfish nor conceited, but a man who loves to see a larger percentage of the people happy.
He has used his personal resources to better the lot of his people through the Ikot Ekpene/Obot Akara Partnership. He has sponsored many health outreaches, school cleaning programmes and many other empowerment programmes.
As a people, it is pertinent we do not make a mistake we’ll regret tomorrow by allowing negative sentiments becloud our sense of reasoning and choice. Representing and holding the mandate of a people is not a hundred metre race, but a marathon expedition which we’ll either enjoy for as much as it lasts or endure under-development and pains of poor representation for the same period of time. Is the former or latter what we wish for our people? The choice is ours today. But if I’ll offer an advice, I’ll call on us to go for the former so that when the goodies of effective representation starts flying around, we’ll all be glad we took the right decision to safeguard our future, those of our youths and the generations unborn.
Prince Ukut is blessed with excellent communication ability, problem-solving and work ethics skills. He’s a team player, vibrant, technically savvy and is gifted with commendable man-management skills. In Prince Ukut, we’ll have a man who fears God, a fine listener, a people’s man, a man with vision armed with the right passion to redefine parliamentary business for the people of Ikot Ekpene/Obot Akara State Constituency.
He has all the needed experience that has prepared him for the position he is seeking today. A lover of sports, Mr. Ukut has held several positions right from his days as a student of University of Uyo. He was at a time President Ikot Ekpene Students Association from 2003 – 2004, (Leader of all students from Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area).
He has earned several awards and honours to include: Certificate on Basic Transformational Leadership – 2015 by Institute of National Transformation, Nazareth, Israel; (8-Day training on Moral transformation and spiritual rebirth, Jewish Phenomenal Achievements; The Reflections on Leadership in Post-Independence Africa, The Singapore Story from 1965-2000; The Dreams of Nigeria Founding Fathers, The Good to Great Development Model, Taking Responsibility for Change and Connecting Passion to Purpose).

Mr. Samuel Ukut, it bears repeating, is the parliamentarian Ikot Ekpene/Obot Akara State Constituency needs at this material time. He is tailor-made for a time like this. I implore all well meaning sons and daughters of Ikot Ekpene/Obot Akara State Constituency to rally round this great son of the soil if we are desirous of rewriting the narrative of representation for our Constituency.
Let’s be guided by the axiom that while our life is in God’s hands, our destiny lies with us. Are we going to chart the right cause that will ensure collective property that will dovetail with the aspirations and destiny of our people, or miss this defining moment for momentary gratification and long-term lamentation?
The choice is ours. Let’s do it right.
