Anietie Eka: Why I surround myself with 50 personal aides
The member representing Uyo in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Anietie Eka has posited that his passion to develop young people and give them platform to excel is behind the multiple personal aides in his employ.
The Uyo lawmaker stunned the legislative world when he appointed about 50 personal aides after his reelection in 2019, admidst accolades and cheers.
But interacting with members of 2020 NUJ Press Week in his office on Tuesday, 17th November, 2020, Rt Hon Anietie Eka insisted that there is no going back in his determination to assist more young people stand on their feet, with a view to giving them brighter future.
While observing that his accommodating approach towards people has aided his rising profile, Rt Hon Anietie Eka maintained that he will remain who he is provided that continues to add value to the people of Uyo and humanity in general.
He stated people do not need to hail from Uyo to be close to him, adding no fewer than 7 members of his personal aides are not Uyo indigenes and reasoned that “wherever you come can never be a barrier to your rise to greatness”.
He harped on need to give youth empowerment top priority and commended Nigerian youths for standing up for their rights during the #EndSARS protest, stressing that for the first the youth have made their voices heard loud and clear.
Rt Hon Anietie Eka, however, regretted the negative aspect of the protest and sued for calm and cooperation.
While commending the Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Comrade Amos Etuk for sharing his philosophy in leadership, especially his passion for human and capacity development as welfare, Rt Hon Anietie Eka pointed out that the disposition has midwived his emergence as NUJ chairman, utgiur him to sustain the tempo.
Anietie Eka recalled his relationship with NUJ particularly with Comrade Amos Etuk and looked forward to conslolidating on the partnership.
The state lawmaker lauded the leadership and members of 2020 NUJ Press Week Organising Committee for the honour and pledged his support to the Committee.
Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of 2020 NUJ Press Week Organising Committee, Comrade Nsibiet John, to the Uyo lawmaker that the Committee was in his office intimate him of activities marking the Press Week and solicit his support.
