Rape: Essien Udim Councilor debunks allegation
The Councilor representing Odoro Ikot Ward 2 in Essien Udim Legislative Council, Hon. Sunday Udoekong has reacted to a recent report on Social Media Platform by one Da-Zion Umoh, alleging that he raped one Miss Unwana Raphael Ossom.
Hon. Udoekong who was addressing journalists at his residence over the weekend, wondered why Da-Zion Umoh should allege that he raped his proposed wife, somebody they have been living together these past years.
The Councilor explained that he had a little misunderstanding with his wife who he is still planning to marry soon, but was settled, stressing that he has never in his life involved in raping or acts that are against the laws of the land. “How can I rape my wife. This is a girl that we are living together for the past few years. So how can somebody wake up to post a damaging report that I raped her. Can that be possible”, he queried.
Hon. Udoekong narrated that as a result of the damaging online report, which he described as a calculated attempt by the said Da Zion Umoh and his cohort to tarnish his image, his entitlements in the Council has been seized.
The Councilor called on relevant authorities to look into the matter to ensure that his entitlements are being paid as he is innocent of the said allegation.
On his relationship with the Council Chairman, the Councilor explained that it has been very cordial as he has been working together with the Council Boss to achieve this goal of taking Essien Udim to another level of development.
On her part, Miss Unwana Raphael Osom described the allegation as false, misleading and attempt to blackmail and tarnish the image of the Councilor, pointing out that they have been living together for the past few years.
Meanwhile, the Councilor has directed Da-Zion Umoh and his cohorts to publish an apology in 2 national and 3 local dailies within 14 days or be ready to appear in court for defamation of character.
Effort to speak with Da-Zion Umoh on the matter proved abortive as his mobile line was not going through as at the time of filing this report.
