RAAMP targets more rural road projects in Akwa Ibom
The Akwa Ibom State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project, AKS-RAAMP is gearing up to construct more rural roads across the state, following the closing / opening of bids for 34.40 kilometers of selected roads under the second phase backlog maintenance / rehabilitation component of the project recently.
The Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Offiong Offor supervised the event at AKS-RAAMP office, signaling the successive commencement of appraisal processes that would lead to the emergence of a winner for the contract award.
Offiong emphasized on quality delivery, ahead of the contract award, pointing out that like the World Bank, the Umo Eno administration does not have any room for compromise in the delivery of quality jobs across the state.
It could be recalled that jobs for the construction of 36.766 kilometers of roads had earlier been awarded and contractors mobilized to various sites under the first phase of the component across six Local Government Areas of the state, few months ago.
Also speaking, the State Project Coordinator of RAAMP, Pastor Gideon Akpan thanked the State Governor for his belief and investment in AKS-RAAMP, as he pledged to live above board towards realizing the project’s development objectives accordingly.
The procurement specialist of RAAMP, Mr. Etim Effiong explained that the 5th edition of the World Bank Procurement Regulations of September, 2023 would be followed strictly throughout the evaluation procedure, while Mr. Ifeanyi Emenako of Amitec Interglobal Limited spoke on behalf of other bidders, describing the process as fair and satisfactory.
The event featured 21 bids received for evaluation, while one late submission by Blueprint Nigeria Limited was returned in line with standard provisions regulating the subject matter.
