Qua Iboe Church honours Ukana Polytechnic Rector, Dr Ukekpe, others
Qua Iboe Church, Ikot Ekpene Area Superintendence, Akwa Ibom State has honoured the Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Ukana, Dr. Uduak Sunday Ukekpe with an Award of Honour for his numerous contributions to the church and the society at large.
The General Superintendent/Chairman of Conference of Qua Iboe Church, Revd. Ekpedeme Effanga said the Church gathered to celebrate God’s faithfulness in the lives of the celebrators at 11 Adadiaha, Ikot Ekpene.
The clergy said the celebration was in commemoration of Dr. Ukekpe and other honoree’s commitment and unwavering service to God and humanity.
According to Revd Effanga “we are happy and proud of your individual achievement and your conferment as rector Federal Polytechnic, Ukana. The church is honoured to receive you. And as a church, we thank God for preserving you and lifting you to an enviable height”.
Earlier, Revd Effanga while delivering the homily, spoke on the topic: Living out God’s perfect design for your life. With his text taken from the book of Psalms 139 v 13 – 18. He charge Christains to be sensitive to God’s perfect design for their lives. ” We are all created by God but with different designs. When you discover God’s perfect design for your life and live it, you will excel far above your equals. King Saul in the original plan of God was not supposed to be king in Israel but because the people pushed Him, Saul was crowned king but did not fulfil his days. When you are not living out the perfect design for your life, you are bound to face doom,” he stressed.
The Church Chairman, Elder David Ataenyong commended Dr. Ukekpe for his exceptional contributions. “Your numerous contribution has helped the church in the past and we are confident that you will not relent. May this service cause your light to shine and may the God of Daniel give you knowledge and skill, and make you better than your equals,” he prayed.
Elder Ataenyong used the opportunity to implore all the invited guests to attend the forthcoming Golden Jubilee Celebration of the Church, urging everyone to make it a date to celebrate with church over the milestone it has achieved which he said was solely by the grace of God.
The high point of the ceremony witnessed special prayers for the celebrators and their families by the GS, Rev. Effanga as well as the presentation of award to the Rector by Revd. Godwin Bassey, the Resident Minister/Acting Area Conference Chairman, Ikot Ekpene.
Responding, highly elated Dr. Ukekpe flanked by his wife Rebecca said he was overwhelmed with joy and appreciates the Qua Iboe Church for the honour.
He said “I feel honoured and motivated to be spurred to greater achievements with Qua Iboe Church by my side.”
“Christian are the ones who are to occupy sensitive positions of authority and not unbelievers. I encourage all Christians to rise up and take responsibility as it is the only way we can turn things around for the better, I am not a politician but I encourage Christians to go into it, so that legislations and passing of bills will be done with the fear of God. I thank God for the church and the prayers they have been showering on us” he added.
Others honoured during the ceremony were the Member Representing Abak State Constituency, Elder Udeme Otong, a Senior Lecturer with the University of Port Harcourt and composer of the Akwa Ibom anniversary anthem, Dr. Iberedem Iwok.
