Pregnacare: Martha Emmanuel’s motherly care thrills Essien Udim First Lady
The Wife of the Chairman, Essien Udim Local Government Council, Mrs Umoh Gabriel Tony Luke, has expressed gratitude to the Governor’s wife, Dr (Mrs) Martha Udom Emmanuel, for her motherly care to the women and children in the state.
The Chairman’s wife stated this during the presentation of delivery kits, supplements, cash and free medical care to select pregnant women in the state on Wednesday, 24th February, 2021 in Uyo to marked the 6th edition of Martha’s Pregnacare under the Pet Project of the governor’s wife, Family Empowerment and Youth Re-orientation Path Initiative, FEYReP.
The pregnant women were drawn from the 31 Local Government Areas in Akwa Ibom State, five from each LGA.
The first lady of Essien Udim who described the wife of the Governor as “Mother Theresa of our generation and a compassionate mother” also prayed God to protect her and her husband and reward them abundantly.
Mrs Luke further commended the Governor’s wife for the gestures and called for more support to the Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel and his wife to succeed in their administration which, according to her, centered on the welfare of the women, children and youths of Akwa Ibom.
She advised the five pregnant women from Essien Udim to make good use of the items and the opportunity given to them to ensure they receive medical care accordingly before delivery and after child birth.
She also encouraged the women to be courageous and not to entertain any fear or anxiety but maintain confidence in God at all times.
While wishing them safe delivery, Mrs Luke warned the pregnant women against taking any form of concoction or unprescribed drugs during this period of pregnancy to avoid damaging their womb and the unborn babies.
Among the highpoints of the occasion was lecture given the pregnant women on different aspects of care for their pregnancy.
