Pastor Umo Eno pays glowing tribute to Eket Land, stakeholders

In the spirit of the biblical leaper who returned to appreciate Jesus after healing, the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Lands and Water Resources, Pastor Umo Eno has celebrated Eket Land and its Stakeholders over the fruits and blessings enjoyed thus far in the land of Eket.
Speaking during an Appreciation Meeting of Ekid People’s Union at the instance of the Commissioner, yesterday June 25, 2021, Pastor Umo Eno said Eket has yielded fruits with many increase to him and family.
He recalled that he returned to Eket in 1994 but started business in 1997 stressing that, “God in this land has blessed us. When I came to Eket, God told me specifically that this land will be my Rehoboth. God has blessed me and Eket has become my home.
“People believe that I am from here, and they are not wrong because this is where I come from and I live here, and Eket people have received me as their own.
“In this land, my business has been successful. It is in this land that God called me into ministry. It is in Eket that I was called to the Pastorial Ministry. And in this same Eket, God has through the instrumentality of Governor Udom Emmanuel called me to serve in the State Executive at his pleasure and the glory of God,” he said.
He maintained that it would have been a sign of ungratefulness if he failed to come and appreciate the people that have accommodated and tolerated them and the place that has become his home.
In his words, “so today we want to thank you for accommodating us, helping us and standing by us. We just came today with a sincere heart of gratitude, and we pray that God will continue to bless the land of Eket for us all in Jesus name.
Earlier in his remarks, the President General of Ekid People’s Union – Dr. Samuel Udonsak commended Pastor Umo Eno for recognizing and coming to appreciate the people of Eket who have been his host for years.
He noted that EPU is a socio cultural organization and none political, adding that it is their desire to forge a common front and pursue things together with their sister Local Government – Esit Eket and reinvent Eket.
In his remarks, the Political Leader of Eket, Chief Ndueso Essien said Umo Eno has since arrival in Eket tried very hard to be integrated into the area adding, “we know what you have contributed to the development of Eket and we thank you very sincerely.”
He commended the President General of EPU for the high powered assemblage of Eket stakeholders and appealed that they should try to be more integrating to people who have come into Eket.
On her part, Senator Helen Esuene appreciated Pastor Umo Eno for coming to appreciate Eket people saying they (Umo Eno and herself) were in the same hospitality industry and have garnered different experiences in the course of their business line.
According to her, “Pastor Umo Eno has done well by coming to appreciate us because this land has blessed him and he has blessed the land too.”
Similarly, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Frank Archibong said the idea of the appreciation meeting was muted many years ago while he (Hon Frank) was still the Chairman of Eket Council saying they kept procrastinating and postponing.
Hon Frank noted that Pastor Umo Eno holds Eket very highly and was one of the persons who was always supporting him as the Chairman of Eket.
“You have supported Eket economically, spiritually, and otherwise. For you to come here in appreciation of the land and people of Eket where you have been making a living shows you are a man with appreciative heart.
“Keep doing what you are doing and as long as you continue to bless Eket, God will bless you; as you continue to appreciate Eket, God will bless you and as you continue to recognize EPU, God will bless you,” he added.
Also speaking, the Acting Director General of Divine Mandate – Elder Benjamin Udobia said he was happy to see what Pastor Umo Eno has done, especially for knowing that Eket has been good to him and commended the President General of EPU for the assembly.
He noted that Pastor Umo Eno is one person many are trying to follow his footsteps adding that the Royalty group has employed and impacted on so many people and homes.
Elder Udobia said just like the freewill offering of Noah after the flood which attracted more blessings, God will continue to give him more reasons to appreciate Eket people.
Also in attendance at the event were; the Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission (AKISIEC), Mr Aniedi Ikoiwak, Evang. Ukpong Smith, Barr Akpadiaha Ebitu, Chief Assam Usoro, Hon. Ekanem Willie, and Pastor Godwin Williams among many others.
