North feeds you yet South has better climatic condition to feed Nations
Before Olams travelled to Kaduna state to set up their $150million integrated poultry farm, Imo state had the first opportunities to grab the investment leveraging on the moribund Avutu Poultry Farm Complex Obowo.
However and most unfortunately, unwieldy bureaucracy, greed, officialdom and incompetence on the part of those saddled with championing the governance of Imo state drove them away.
Sane, smart, honest and competent government officials chase up and pursue genuine and capable investors to come over to their states to invest and not the other way round.
If you look critically at the volume and value of Agriculture and agro development in Nigeria today, a majority of the big agro ventures are located in the North of Nigeria. The reason behind this is not nepotism or Buhari supporting his people . It is the incompetency, greed and lack of the passionate commitment by successive governments in the south east to drive agro development that is the root cause .
Take a look below 👇
1. Largest Rice Farm (North)
2. Largest Cattle Ranch (North)
3. Largest Cassava Farm (North)
4. Largest Diary Farm (North)
5. Biggest grower of cereal (North)
6. Biggest grower of grains (North)
7. Biggest grower of cotton (North)
8. Biggest grower of vegetables (North)
And more including Yam, Potato, Cucumber, sugar cane
Yet, the South is blessed with land and weather.
If the state governors and their foot soldiers had adopted and pursued some of the massive agricultural, agro development and agripreneurship schemes we had shared with them , the states in the South East would have solved the multiple problems of hunger, joblessness , unemployment, poverty and insecurity in the land .
We would have been exporting food commodities to the rest of the world like Netherlands .
Kebbi state leveraged on the massive agro intervention funds provided by the CBN and technical aides from knowledgeable folks to access over N72billion to develop massive acreage of rice farms and processing factories under cooperative frameworks.
The same CBN has provided over N32billion intervention funds for the development of the palm value chain in the South East and other palm belts in the south. But our governors and their appointees are not interested in transparently executed agro empowerment schemes and interventions that sustainably empowers our youths into the longer term .
We are staring at Agro projects and schemes that could add over $1billion to the south east economy if we had selfless, proactive, creative , excellent minded and altruistic people in the public sector driving this processes.
We have offered to help you guys design, structure and execute very transparent Agro execution architecture that creates massive cottage industries and jobs in Ala Igbo. No one is interested in your 10% kickbacks and games . Lets do the right things.
It is not too late for us to make amends. Please help our people. For those of you, who are only interested in what you will swallow and stuff into your pockets, please remember that the future of our youths are at stake . You can still chop while working.
We have over 55million youths roaming the streets of Nigeria either unemployed or underemployed. Imo state has over 1.5 to 2.million of such youths ( mostly graduates). Please let’s help them before it is too late for all of us.
ENDSARS HAS NOT YET ENDED .
