NDDC to promote government’s agricultural policies
The Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, says it would continue to promote the agriculture initiatives, aimed at supporting value chain and food security in the region.
The Acting Executive Director projects NDDC, Cairo Ojougboh, stated this when he visited the Elele-Alimini rice mill production plant, in Emuoha Local Government Area of Rivers State.
He said that the rice mill plant, being operated in partnership with a group, is to support the Federal Government’s policy on food security and employment generation.
He, however, noted that the major challenge facing the rice mill remains the availability of paddy.
The NDDC Acting Executive Director said when fully operational, the plant will produce 24 tonnes of rice per hour.
The Elele-Alimini rice mill plant is one of several flag-ship projects of the NDDC.
