NAWOJ gets new exco as Ladi Bala, Lilian Ogabu, Helen Udofa, emerge President, VP, Secretary
The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ has during her 10th Triennial Delegates Conference elected new Executives to steer her affairs for the next three years.
In a keenly contested election held over the weekend at Legbo Kutigi International Event Centre, Mrs Ladi Bala with a whooping 400votes beat three opponents of Aisha Ibrahim who scored 251votes, Lucy Danjuma Chindaba – 85votes and Ruth Abubakar – 48votes to emerge the National President.
Also, Lilian Okonkwo-Ogabu with 434votes defeated her opponent, Timinepere Jombo Idoko who scored 372votes to be announced the Deputy National President.
For the Secretariat, Helen John Udofa from Akwa Ibom State who scored the highest votes of 547 became the National Secretary defeating Daharatu Ahmed Aliyu who had 266votes.
Other National positions contested for were National Treasurer and Internal Auditor; Fatimah Rasheed who scored 469votes to become the Treasurer won Nma Ozioma Onwuka-Okereke with 213votes and Nkechi Ogazi who had 124votes.
To become the Internal Auditor, Dorothy Abellegah had 441votes to claim the seat winning her opponent Chiwendu Nnadozie who had 330votes.
The NAWOJ Executives have been sworn-in on Sunday, 15th November, 2020 to begin acting immediately.
