May 29: Akwa Ibom Hausa Community urges citizens to count gains, not woes
As drums are rolled out to celebrate the 22nd anniversary of the current democratic dispensation on May 29, the Hausa Community in Akwa Ibom through its leader, Alhaji Hassan Sadauki has enjoined Nigerians to consolidate on the progress made under democratic rule since 1999.
Making the plea during an interaction with newsmen, Alhaji Sadauki, on behalf of the community said myriad problems besetting the nation can be surmounted if citizens resolve to utilize the chance to build the nation through patriotism, hard work and accountability.
According to him, nation building is a shared responsibility, adding that no nation grows without the cooperation of its citizens:
“As a nation we should support nation building – nation building is not only the responsibility of the leaders. No nation has ever grown without the consent and cooperation of her citizens, we have a task of growing our nation through our words and deeds. Resorting to divisive tendencies, insolence and assault on our nation cannot help our nation to grow.”
He also counselled the citizens on the need to build on the gains made since 1999 rather than indulge in magnifying the country’s problems.
Alhaji Sadauki congratulated the federal government led by President Muhammadu Buhari and the Akwa Ibom State Government under Governor Udom Emmanuel for engendering “qualitative leadership strides which have emboldened the masses belief in democratic rule.”
